Meet Brit Adgie | Owner at Adgie Images

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brit Adgie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brit, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I think the most important lesson I have learned so far is to pitch the benefits of a service NOT the features. When you know a product really well it is easy to go through the “wow” features of the service. “It can do this cool thing and that cool thing” – most of these things don’t matter to your client. You have to figure out the main reason this product is going to benefit your client and pitch that. They don’t want to spend money on the wow factor, they have to see a ROI and if you can’t show them that (even if the product would give that to them) then they will pass. This mentality has made the biggest shift in our pitches and has helped us connected better with our clients because we recognize what they are struggling with and help find a solution.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a business that does updated marketing for commercial clients. Virtual tours, custom videos, aerial photography – if it goes on a website, we can likely create it. I am very proud of the business we have created because we picked two verticals to expand into and we have gotten national clients in both. 95% of our business is referrals and I take huge pride in that becuase it means that our clients value us and think we are easy to work with.
Starting a business is not easy. I have seen many friends try and fail because it takes determination, organization and (in most cases) cash. Be able to respond to a potential client within 10 minutes, know your cash flow and (the biggest in my opinion) ask for outside help. So many people think they don’t need help when it comes to their business but it is unrealistic to think you are going to know all the right steps to grow, particularly if you are a creative. Get a board of people together that have different skills from you and constantly pick their brain to make sure you are making the right moves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Friday evening we would start with drinks at Elmyr (grizzes galore) and then walk our way through Inman Park to Delbar for dinner. After dinner we would rent scooters and take the beltline to the Clermont Hotel for a rooftop drink and then if the mood strikes us we would make our way down to the dirty and delightful Clermont Lounge.
Saturday morning we would head over to the Atlanta Breakfast Club and get chicken and waffles and mimosas and make our way over to Mercedes Benz for an Atlanta United game (this is a fantasy weekend right?!?). We would sit in the supporters section, throw beers for goals and leave the game with another epic win and Josef Martinez hat-trick. After the game we would head over to Venkman’s for dinner and a live show and end the night sipping whiskey on the porch of my friend’s AirBnb in Chandler Park.
Sunday morning we would pack our bags and play disc golf at Etowah disc golf course in Red Top Mountain. After a sizzling round (at -12) we would rent kayaks and sit on the river within the park and enjoy how the city of Atlanta is beautiful but how nature and the outdoor activities are always just a few minutes away.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my husband Ben. He is constantly supporting me and pushing me to use my creativity in other outlets. Without him, I never would have been able to create a successful business as it was his idea to take my strengths in creativity and blend it with technology. He is the smartest cookie I know and my constant hype person.
