We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana J and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I can remember, my parents would always stress the importance of working for myself. Even before I was old enough to understand. It wasn’t really until I was graduating high school before I fully understood why I needed to start a business. I’ve always loved Beauty, so doing something that I love was the thought process behind my business Vixxen Vanity. Later on, I became a Bartender and fell in love with the Hospitality & Nightlife Industry, which is the basis of my second business Vanity Bar Collection.

What should our readers know about your business?
My first business is Vixxen Vanity. We specialize in Professional Makeup and Lash Extension services, and we will be expanding to offer Skincare services and treatments in the near future. One important thing I have learned along the way is to always stay down, stay focused, and never tell people your plans until after they’re done and finalized! Early on, I dealt with a situation where someone tried to steal intellectual property related to my business. (Too bad they failed!) I learned you have to pay attention to how you move, haters are always watching. Believe it or not, there are people out there that would rather die than see you with any bit of success. Definitely a learning experience. My second business is Vanity Bar Collection. It’s a hub for all my Hospitality workers, whether you work at the strip club or a fancy steakhouse. We are planning an official launch for Summer 2021 that we are very excited about! So stay tuned for that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few of my favorite places to visit in ATL would have to be Toast on Lenox (great new brunch spot), the Trap Museum, Juicy Crab, MJQ, Medusa Lounge, Cafe Circa, and I like to hang out in Little Five Points and Edgewood. I love trying new food. Before Covid, I liked to check out concerts at the Tabernacle as well. But I think there are sooo many great spots in ATL that I have yet to visit. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would definitely like to thank God for everything that he has brought me through on this journey, and I am very blessed and thankful. I want to give a special thanks and dedicate my success to my parents and family. I feel like being exposed to entrepreneurial ideals so early in life was greatly beneficial to me. I also want to shoutout an audiobook called “Your Wish Is Your Command” introduced to me by a good friend of mine. It changed my life and my way of thinking forever. I still listen to it today.
