Meet Brian King Sr. | Photographer/Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian King Sr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind KRoyalty Images was to be able to express my creativity behind the lens rather than in-front. It all started when I did my first photoshoot with my friend and brother Troy Webster, who is the owner of TKs Depiction, LLC. He was doing a video for the Alabama State University Honeybees and asked me to tag along. So I did that day and as he was doing the video I was taking pictures. After the team saw the pictures I’ll never forget the coordinator of the team, Ms. Williams, told me that I should get into photography and the crazy part about it was she wasn’t the first person to tell me that. So, as the time went on, I asked my grandmother could she buy me a camera, the camera I am currently using today. She asked me if photography was something I really wanted to do and I told her yes. She got me a camera as I told her I was joining the band’s media team my senior year of college. Right after I joined the team, the following semester my little sister was graduating from Tennessee State University. I did my first Graduation shoot with her. As I did her graduation shoot I called on my photography mentor, Kyle Sampson, who was the owner of YBM Visions, he guided me through as I was doing the shoot. From there I’ve just kept trying to better my best.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career as of now is as a high school media paraprofessional at Creekside High School, working directly with the IT department and media center. I also work with the school’s marching band as the head of the media team. I started with the Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets’ media team during my senior year of college. I am most proud of my elevation since I started. I’m excited about perfecting my craft little by little every chance I get; as of now, I am learning to fly drones to capture airborne shots of the band. I got to where I am today by praying and asking the lord to guide my steps as I go on this journey of life. Nothing is ever easy in life but we can all try our hardest to make things bearable. I overcame these challenges by talking with friends and family. I also had to learn how to manage my time properly. I want the world to know that things don’t just come in life, you have to work for it to really see the fruits of your labor. Kroyalty Images is just in the beginning stages. If you have a dream, pursue it! You’ll never know until you try.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start out by visiting the corner cafe in Union City, local to my place of residence. The food is great, specifically the wings. Also, it has a nice atmosphere. For drinks, I would have to take my friends to the Daiquiri Factory Midtown. It’s relatively new to Atlanta but has great drinks, frozen and cocktails. As a place to visit, I would take them to Little Five Points. There are a multitude of various activities over there, so they could experience a lot that Atlanta has to offer. As my usual hangout spot, I would definitely invite them to TopGolf. I love the vibe of playing simulated golf while also being able to grab a drink and relax.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most importantly, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my son, Brian C. King Jr., and both of my late grandmothers, Vivian Walker and Florine King. I would also like to show gratitude to my father and mother, Brian and Khara King. Secondly, I couldn’t go without recognizing the rest of my family, as well as my late mentor, Kyle Sampson (YBMVisions), The Creekside High School Marching SOS band and the Alabama State University Media Team; with a special thanks to the Honeybees!
