We had the good fortune of connecting with Breonna Queen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breonna, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As a (pregnant) full-time blogger, balance has looked a lot differently these past few months. I no longer have the energy levels I had prior to pregnancy and I know that once I have my baby, my energy levels and time will look even more different.

With blogging, I don’t have a set schedule nor do I need to blog everyday which allows me to have an amazing balance between work and life.

When I first started my business, I was doing a lot of unnecessary tasks so that I could feel “busy” in my business but busy and productive are two different things and I learned once I focused on revenue-generating task, my business became easier , more profitable and simpler.

Now, I usually work 2-3 hours a day and I’ve found that’s all I need to be productive in my business. I’ve designed my business to be this way because it’s important that I have free-time to dedicate to my family and myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a full-time beauty blogger on a mission to eradicate the idea that style, and beauty have to be complicated. I share easy-to-apply tips and info around fashion, makeup, skincare and nails.

I’ve always have a thing for beauty and style and I have been in the creator space for over a decade sharing tips.

However, in 2021 I decided to take a leap of faith and go full-time with my business. It wasn’t easy at first because I spent over a decade in corporate so learning that busy doesn’t mean productive was a huge challenge for me. I was always working on my business and most of the things didn’t do much as far as income or impact.

I had to learn to focus on what makes sense for me and eliminate distractions like shiny objects. I had to learn to just do the work. Sometimes doing the work isn’t sexy but it’s necessary in business.

My business allows me to pay my bills, create a schedule that aligns with me and create a legacy impacting women. I’m so honored to help women look and feel their best and that is what pushes me during the hard days in business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved to Tampa, FL over 10 years ago and I will say A LOT has changed within the past few years.

If my bestie was here for a week, I think it’s absolutely necessary we go to the beach at least one day. My favorite thing is to eat Publix subs on the beach OR this nice pizza restaurant nearby in a beach spot I love.

I also take her to midtown. There’s a lot of nice restaurants, and shops there…. Plus you’re able to walk around and just enjoy nature.

Despite being a beauty and style girl… I really love nature and Tampa allows you to have the city life with nature!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my husband! He’s my advocate who is always encouraging me and supporting me because he knows that entrepreneurship can be hard and he’s always there to lend an ear, a hand and whatever else I need (like dinner if I exhausted!).
