We had the good fortune of connecting with Bre’Asia Dunston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bre’Asia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Determination. When I originally set my mind on officially starting my businesses I knew I had to succeed; I couldn’t fail. It was not an option. I gave up so much to finally be able to put my all into something I’ve longed for, so I had to do whatever it took to make it happen and make it successful. I’ve been in Atlanta, Ga for 6 years and always doubted myself and my entrepreneurial mindset. My first business I ever launched in 2015 was a boutique (Bella Styles Boutique) in which I was selling shapewear ,such as waist trainers and it was bad to say the least, lol. There was no marketing at all , just throwing pictures on my Facebook. I didn’t know anything pertaining to a boutique such as wholesale MOQ’s(minimum order quantity), price variations , determining profit etc, and I failed. I ran my boutique for maybe six months and never made a $1 profit due to my lack of knowledge. I vowed to myself to never make that mistake again. Fast-forward to today, I take time to read and study any business prior to starting it. I talk to business coaches , marketing professionals etc so that I can always stay knowledgeable. Though, I still make mistakes I’m grateful for them because it’s apart of business and where’s there’s mistakes, there’s growth -I can only get better .Since I’ve taken my time to read , write down my goals, talk to other entrepreneurs both of my businesses are doing well and any day I feel like things aren’t where I want them to be or I’m frustrated ; I instantly write down ways I can make it better. I’m just a girl from Louisburg,NC trying to rise to the top and I will. I’m determined.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’ll always take pride in knowing my interpersonal skills and customer service sets me apart. I like to interact with clients and customers in a way where they don’t feel like I’m just providing a service or making transactions. When you come get your make-up done we are friends ;we will share “tea”, talk about goals and so much more. I want to provide an experience you won’t get anywhere else. Same as for my cosmetic line , I’m always open to communicating with my customers by getting their feedback , asking what products they’d like to see next and making sure they’re satisfied. I’m most excited about the future. seeing my businesses flourish and becoming world-wide. I want to become a traveling celebrity make-up artist and also have my cosmetic line in stores around the world. Manifestation. I got to where I am today by wanting more for myself and wanting to make a difference. Before I started focusing on my businesses I was in a bad place ; I wasn’t doing anything that would leave a mark. I was working my 9-5 ( in which I still am) and coming home to do nothing. I knew If I wanted better in life it started with me ; no-one was going to drop it in my lap. It hasn’t been easy because working a full-time job and running a business is tiring .There are days I come home and I just want to sleep and take a break from everything but what would that do? One thing that has helped me overcome that challenge is knowing I can’t work 8 hours for someone else and not come home and work another 8 hours for myself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Can I admit something? I’m a homebody to the core and a vegan lol however, my friends are the complete opposite. For food, The Sugar Factory , Ray’s in The City and Thumbs UP -they all have the best food and drinks , and picture aesthetics for capturing memories and those good angles. Hanging out or places that are a must to visit are The High Museum, The Aquarium , Ponce City Market and Little Five Points gives a variety of shopping ,site-seeing and arts. We can’t forget about the SkyView Atlanta, an absolute must if it’s your first time in Atlanta , it gives you a full view of CNN Center,Centennial Olympic Park , Coca Cola and more while also enjoying the experience itself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother. She is amazingggggg! She has always supported my dreams ,no matter how crazy they may have been. If I sold hot dogs on the corner, she’d tell the world “it’s the best hot dog she’s ever had” lol – she’s so extra. When I was in the process of launching my cosmetic line she would call everyday and ask ” when is your business launching ? I’ve told all my friends and they’re ready to purchase some lip gloss”. She will never know how encouraging that was to know she was excited for me because I was battling with my own insecurities on launching. Any time I think about giving up, I think about her and my little sister and remind myself that I have to make them proud ,my success is for all of us not just me.
