We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanna, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote/affirmation would actually be a bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans that I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This has been my favorite verse for years! It fills me with warmth and promise. It helps me to refocus when things, especially in business, seem to be off track. This verse reminds me that I’m already covered. It gives me confidence in my future and encourages me to remain hopeful, patient, yet diligent.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I grew up in Metro Detroit where I was surrounded by amazing restaurants; and often, despite their aesthetic (not necessarily 5 star looking establishments), it was the best, most comforting food. When I moved to Georgia in 2016, I longed for the flavors of the food I’d grown up eating. When I couldn’t find it, I decided to create it.

Starting a business has been far from easy. I feel like I’ve heard the word “no” more than I’ve been granted a “yes”, but honestly, I’d do it all over again. It’s something magical about seeing the seeds you plant, grow, even if it’s small at first. No matter how many times I get knocked down, I have to remember to dust myself off and get up. Starting from small time meal prep services and catering, moving on up to a food truck and brick and mortar location. I’m beyond confident that D-Town Foodie is going to be everything I’ve dreamed of and more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since moving to Atlanta, there are so many places that I have grown fond of.

I would start with brunch at Garden Parc. The all you can eat entrees continuously being delivered to the table is wonderful! We would have to secure reservations well in advance, because spots fill up quickly. I’m a foodie so my tour of the city would definitely center around food. After we’ve let the brunch and mimosas digest, we would move on to The Battery. The Battery has Fat Tuesday’s (delicious daquiris), and an Asian street market, PH’EAST. The ramen from Lifting Noodles is amazing. We would mix in some home cooked meals, of course, (D-Town Foodie) but we would have to try dessert at Cinnaholic. There are a few locations but the one in Edgewood is my favorite. Plant based deliciousness! It’s literally perfect.

After all of the food is covered, I’d take my best friend to Puttshack downtown. They have a cool and innovative spin on mini golf. In the cooler seasons (please avoid in the heat of the summer), the botanical garden in Atlanta is beautiful. There are plenty of places for selfies, group shots and meditation. Another place to checkout is the Ponce City Market. They have a rooftop that has carnival games and food. After 8 it turns into a space only for 21+

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my village. My village consists of my parents, siblings, extended family, partner and best friends. Individually and collectively my village has supported me. Every dream, idea, success and failure, they remain by my side. Although being an entrepreneur is difficult at times, I never feel completely alone. I’m blessed to have such strong, encouraging people in my life. I can honestly say, I would not be half the woman I am today without them.
