We had the good fortune of connecting with Braxton & Tia Hooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Braxton & Tia, what do you attribute your success to?
We believe that the most important factor behind our success and the value of our brand is authenticity. We like to think that as long as we remain true to ourselves and maintain our values, everything will fall into place. There are opportunities that may be presented to us, but if they don’t fit with who we are, we will have to pass because being authentic is very important to us.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are most proud of the work that we have done toward our community through our TableView Foundation Scholarship. We have provided several scholarships to black & brown students, mostly from an HBCU. This assists them with getting the resources they need to further their education and accomplish their goals. In addition, we enjoy taking time to recognize those that cultivate their craft to do good work within the world through our Spotlight Series. This gives creatives the opportunity to enlighten us on their creative process, further discuss their impact, and update everyone on their future plans. These are generally people that have impacted us through their creativity and we want to share their talents with others. Lastly, we enjoy supporting black love. As a young black couple in love, we think it is critical to share what we have learned as newlyweds with our peers. We do this through several panels that take a deep dive into the romantic experience of an African American relationship. Although our relationship is not perfect, we believe that the information we provide can help others navigate their relationship.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to give a special shout-out to our alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University. This is where we say the value of giving back to our community and providing support to those who need it most. In addition, NCAT is where we initially began our journey as TableView. The campus is full of creative, intelligent, and ambitious individuals that encouraged us and inspired us to do what we love most.
