We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandy Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandy, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has played a major role in my career progression. If I had anything to regret thus far, it would be not taking bigger risks. Most opportunities are associated with some amount of risk. The bigger the risk, the bigger the win.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have learned so much throughout this journey. I have met and collaborated with some amazing minds. Like anyone pursuing success, there were obstacles and challenges. So much so that in September I released a mini documentary titled, “Different Hats, Same Brain” about one of the biggest obstacles that I’ve faced and that silently plagues entrepreneurs and creative all over the world. I used the mini doc to reintroduce myself and my new brand to my audience after a life-changing mental health crisis. It highlights some of my struggles and triumphs during my relentless pursuit of creative freedom. Watch it at https://youtu.be/zW9NCM_lPAE Overcoming various weaknesses that I was struggling with prompted me to create and build an interactive challenge to help other creatives and entrepreneurs overcome their weaknesses and maximize the use of their strengths to help them along their personal journey and create marketing campaigns that are tailored to their business. Since its inception, my “30 Day Strengths vs Weaknesses Challenge” has helped over 30 dedicated creatives and entrepreneurs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite hotel in the city with The W on Allen Ivey. That’s my hideaway spot when I am looking to relax or entertain my people coming into town for leisure or business. One of my favorite places to eat is Va Va Vegan.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to everyone who has a specific vision for their life. My goal has been to live a life that empowers those around me and even strangers to pursue their dreams and passions. There seems to be so many obstacles and reasons that we should settle for the traditional “American Dream” as if we are all thirsty for a traditional idea of success and happiness. I appreciate everyone in my life that supports my free spirit.
I would like to shoutout my Black Businesses United family for creating a space for young black entrepreneurs and professionals to excel in their idea of success.
