We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Sutton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in NC. Born in Greensboro, NC & raised in Charlotte, NC to be exact. My background and upbringing was rooted in faith. Faith in God and in Jesus Christ. It impacts everything about who I am today because of the personal relationship I have developed with God in my adult life. I know I’m called by God and my purpose is to tell people of who is and that his word is true. I’m called to let as many that will listen know that he gave us a gift in Jesus Christ and through him we have access to salvation. I’m called to do this boldly and without shame. My upbringing beginning taught and raised by my grandfather until his passing made a huge difference in me being ok with what God has assigned to my life. I spent a lot of time trying to fit and be accepted in my life instead of loving and being who God created me to be. My upbringing made sure I had bread crumbs to lead me back to who I really was.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art, my music, is an expression of who I am and who I believe in. What sets my music apart is the fact that it’s all based on faith and the message of Christ but it remains sonically innovative. I’ve been professionally making music for about 14 years. I’m proud of my growth and experiences but I am far from the height of my career or where I aspire to be. Its been challenging every step of the way but those challenges have built character and taught me lessons I’ll always remember. I’ve learned the importance of understanding the business so that you are not able to be taken advantage of. To make art based upon truth because it’s authentic. Don’t be afraid to give to the world what Gods given me creatively because someone needs to hear it. I want the world to know that I am not ashamed of the message I sing about and that I believe it wholeheartedly. The message that God is real, that Jesus Christ died and rose for our redemption, and that you can turn your life around and be changed by accepting him. That’s my story, I once was confused, and searching for my true identity. Addicted to my own vices and seeking acceptance from whoever would give it. I once sought out for validation from everyone and everything but God. Once I surrendered my life to him that all changed. I am now living a blessed prosperous life and following his instructions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Charlotte, NC. If I had a full week there would be a few places we’d have to check out. Brunch spots on different days for sure. Stats Bar & Grill, Flying Biscuit, MidNight Diner, Stir, any of the rooftops Restaurants. There are a plethora of great musicians and they are all playing somewhere everyday so we’d located which spots to hit during their stay. Probably go fishing on the lake. Hit up Blackstone Shooting Range. It’s almost summer so any of the parks or Carowinds amusement park. Camp Northend near uptown Charlotte. Optimus Hall for more great food of all types! The list goes on and on! Sunday we’d go to church at New Life Fellowship where I currently serve and attend under the leader of Pastor John P Kee.
