We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Suarez, Madeline Smith, Jonathan Noel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, Madeline, Jonathan, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe that most artists and creatives base their career on their passion because it’s almost impossible to imagine doing anything else. It’s very crippling for an artist to be in an environment that requires them to withhold expression. It’s not as much pursuing a career as it is answering a calling.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We pride ourselves for crafting a distinctive sound that can really only be attached to us. The artists we find influential and successful all share a commonality: They remain firmly devoted to their vision regardless of what’s selling or trending around them. If you’re talented and driven while also setting yourself apart, then success is only imminent. I believe we continue to grow by identifying with that notion.

Anything worth doing isn’t easy, and there are many occasions where being an artist can be very discouraging. It’s never been easier to upload a song or a piece of artwork and share it to the world. But since this happens over a million times a day, your art has to truly resonate to break the mold. Having a positive mindset and constantly working hard to achieve what we do has resulted in reward, in every form.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For dinner: Kimball House, without question. The food, cocktails and overall ambience are second to none. Throw in a possible celebrity sighting and Kimball House is one of the most unique dining experiences you can have in Atlanta. The caviar is a must.

For drinks: The Blind Pig Parlour Bar for cocktails. Being from Chicago, we immediately sought out a low-lit, speakeasy type bar in Atlanta. Though maybe not as historical as a Chicago speakeasy, The Blind Pig Parlour Bar hits the mark with its laidback vibe and its ever-changing cocktail menu.

For desserts/coffee: Voga Italian Gelato: Best gelato experience since our trip to Italy.

For culture: A visit to the High Museum of Art is a must. With multiple floors of historical and contemporary art exhibits, it has become one of our favorite museums in the country.

For hanging out: We tend to always find ourselves stumbling back to Little Five Points. With multiple vintage clothing stores, restaurants, maybe a walk through Piedmont Park, you can easily spend an entire day in just the neighborhood alone. Criminal Records deserves a stop-in for their extensive vinyl collection as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As cliche as it may be, the overwhelming support of our family and friends sustains our drive. Each of us in our band has family that not only embraces our art but genuinely believes in its success. It’s very reassuring and rewarding; and the amount of love and dedication we’ve received is incalculable.
