Meet Brandon Huyler | Actor & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Huyler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I actually got my favorite quote tattooed on me. The quote reads “Making Impossible Possible”, the full phrase to that quote is “Its all about making the impossible possible.”
For me, it means everything. That may sound a little dramatic but that is exactly how I look at the world. There are so many wonders life has to offer and yet many people in the world do not get the chance to experience them. Making Impossible Possible pushes me to never settle. It reminds me that no matter what it is I may want from this world, it’s possible for me to achieve. As long as we have life in our bodies, nothing is unreachable. We owe it to ourselves to explore every crevice of life and what it has to offer, if not we’re only doing ourselves a disservice. It is my belief that we aren’t meant to simply wake up, go to a job that we spend most of our day at to only go home at the end of it and prepare for the same routine tomorrow. I use my days doing what I enjoy, feeling accomplished and satisfied at the end of it. I made a promise to myself that I would chase my dreams and even if I’m not successful in the way I wish to be, at least I would have given it a shot. Defying the odds and making the impossible possible is what life is all about.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a full time actor and model. I feel like what sets me apart from others is simply my determination. As ambitious as I am, I understand there will always be somebody better than you at a certain task, skill, activity, etc.; however, it isn’t always about being better. I’ve never known what it is to quit something that I’ve fully made up my mind to pursue, and I haven’t failed yet, nor do I ever plan to. I’m most proud of simply being able to pursue a full time acting/modeling career. As an individual who has a university degree, had a “regular job”, tried everything society said one should, I’m most proud of the ability to walk away knowing that in order to make myself happy, I would have to step outside of the box and do something others would consider drastic and just crazy. I walked away from a 9=5 job because it wasn’t making me happy. I wasn’t leaving the workplace feeling satisfied with my days, it all felt like a boring, endless routine. I was afraid, as being from The Bahamas its unheard of in quitting a job to go and pursue something as “unrealistic” as acting and modeling to sustain a life. Even though I didn’t really know where to start or what the outcome would be, I figured it was better than going to a job everyday that made me miserable, spending all my time there making somebody else’s dreams come true, and only having two weekend days to myself TRYING to pursue my own. I’ve clung to my social media name being SelfInspiredB or BInspired. This name kind of developed along the way as I pursued a full time acting and modeling career. I’m inspired by my past, as well as what I want for my future, it all comes from within. I’ve seen how I lived and I know what i wish to live like and if I rely too heavily on outside entities, I don’t think I’d get very far. I believe everybody has to want something for themselves, not what others want for you. I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks about what you’re doing with YOUR life, as long as you’re doing something that makes you happy at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters. We as a society rely too much on what other people think of us, what we do, the lives we live etc.., I’m not one to really dwell on how others feel about me, I’m concerned about what it is I need to do to get where I need to go regardless as to how others view me, and only those of a like mind can understand the journey that takes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I can’t answer this question as good as I would like to. Being that I’m relatively new to the city and all I do is hit the gym, work and chill at home, I haven’t gotten the chance to explore as much as I would like. Though I haven’t gotten the chance to really explore, I have come across a few places that I enjoy. Papadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Postino Wine Cafe, Metro Cafe (karaoke) and The Battery’s roof top access for some games and fun have been some of the places that kept my attention. I know its not as fancy as elaborate as one may like, but I’m a chilled kind of guy. I’m still waiting to find more spots that I can venture into and call “my own”.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are quite a few people I can dedicate this shoutout to and even still it wouldn’t be enough. My mother, older brother, relatives, best friends, fellow countrymen, fraternity brothers (Kappa Alpha Psi), etc..
Many persons in my life have helped me in some way shape or form to chase to my dreams.
