We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Hughley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel like taking the risk is holding back a lot of future entrepreneurs. Risks are apart of the process when starting a business. You can choose the level of the risk. Anytime I am about to take a risk I try to make sure it is a calculated risk. Meaning yeah I might lose with this risk, but I am able to bounce back from it. Before I invested any money in my business I took time studying photography either on YouTube or through friends to make sure this was the risk I was willing to take and it worked out great.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is I do not see photography as a competition. I understand that there are a lot of photographers, but my goal is to be the best version of myself. My proudest moment so far is opening a studio. Im most excited about the process of transitioning into a studio photographer, and learning all the skills and tricks that come with it. I got to where I am today by not giving up working hard and listen to the people around me that knew about the field. No it was not easy some days it is still not easy. There are a lot of hours that go into doing photography. One lesson that I learned about photography is that the pictures you take are a lot like pieces in museums. Everybody might not like the picture you took or the style you use, but you are still in the museum. With that being said find your audience/clientele that works for you. I want the world to know my brand is built on pleasing my clients to the best of its ability.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be completely honest I’m an introvert most of the time. So a lot of my friends are like me I believe we could have fun just chilling maybe order wings or pizza. If I had to go somewhere it would be a place like top golf, Andrettis, or maybe Dave and Busters.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
DJC3NTURII he was the first person to put a camera in my hand and teach me a lot of the things I still use today. He is also my business partner. email: djc3nturii@gmail.com
