We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Curtis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, what are you inspired by?
God. People. The God that is in each individual. I love to communicate with others and understand their experience there likes, dislikes. There takes even if i don’t agree with them provide me some insight on another world that I don’t directly experience. Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Other than a designer and creative I am also starting my full time nursing job very soon. I’ve accepted a position at a very well known Atlanta hospital. The whole process of getting into nursing has been difficult but it 100% showed me that all things are made perfect in Gods timing. I initially attended Georgia Southern University and spread my self pretty thin with my brand, classes, work (sometimes), and numerous orgs. And one thing I noticed after applying was that some of my classmates were not as well rounded in that aspect, all of their time was spent on school and occasional partying and because of this their GPAs were definitely higher than mine. So I didn’t get in at GA Southern which was devastating but then I found a program at Augusta University which would allow me to get my masters in 16 months. So from their on out I kept in contact with the advisor at Augusta almost weekly lol, just to make sure my name was known. And I applied as soon as it opened and got in. The experience showed me that many people will not understand your vision and that is ok, they may not think what you’re doing is practical or realistic and that is ok to. Many people could not wrap their heads around how somebody would have two passions like that, that could work simultaneously. Many professors stated that you would have to give up time and interests and experiences if you really wanted it, which I did but not to the extent where I did not enjoy myself. Essentially I learned that my life is my own, whatever Elohim shows you in the spiritual can become reality as long as you stay close to him and put in the necessary work daily.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depending on the friend I would say we would go to the High art museum. Then hit little 5 points (my personal fave) and go to all the little shops. If there really into clothing we could slide to some of the boutique and vintage spots (wishatl, social status, shopfmm, fullcircle, no signal.). For food we could try one of the great vegan black owned spots out here like tassilis, or grassvbq joint. If we on the east side we can go to jazzy juice café and grab some lamb and salmon burgers. Then hit ponce and the belt line and flick up and look at some of the art. And if we feel like tearing our stomachs up at the end of the day we can hit Jennis Icecream or go to top golf and get a few Moscow mules.Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My girlfriend Jamaya (@Jamayarocheal_) has a huge stake in my success. She has been with me every step of the way encouraging me and keeping me grounded. She has added discipline in my life which definitely is critical in every business owners life. There are really too many people to shout out because everyone has been very supportive in their own way. Two of my closest friends Jaren (@jarenstephens.art) & Jay (1xartier) have also been able to give a helping hand continuously with creative direction and photo shoots. And also my artists and team who always bring much needed support (kaygatz_) (@zemithedesigner) (@robbankz) (@lunden1k) (@murphychr) (@shots.by)
