Meet Brandon Covington: Owner & Chef of Bear Pizzeria

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Covington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, how do you think about risk?
You know that old saying, no risk no award. From my life experience, playing it safe gets you nowhere. One of the reason why I took a risk & started my own business, is I’m a natural born leader & working for someone was never my thing. Honestly, taking risk has been positive in my life.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
To make a long story short, my wife was pregnant and she couldn’t eat many foods but she was craving pizza. We’re vegan, so it was hard for us to find good vegan pizza, then my wife suggested that I should try making my own pizza. I did research on how to make pizza & the rest is history.
I’m most definitely proud of myself for starting my own business which I can give to my son in the future. I love being an entrepreneur!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend is actually visiting this June and I’m going to take him all over ATL and check out some awesome vegan food & spots! Botanical Gardens will be a stop along with walking up Stone Mountain. As far as food spots, we’ll check out Big Softies for their vegan soft serve, Sunflower Cafe & ATL Food Truck for all their amazing vegan vendors.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Most definitely want to give a shoutout to my wife (Maja) & son (Aiden Bear), without those two, none of this would’ve been possible. Through all this, I have become a better men. Also, I’m giving a shout to the most high. Lastly, shoutout to all who have tried our food & to everyone who will try it!
