We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have been a creative for as long as I can remember. In the last ten years, I’ve explored content creation, graphic design, videography and video editing, photography, and more. Combined with my love for business marketing, my passion for creativity has allowed me the opportunity to work with a variety of clients – corporations, colleges, music artists, clothing brands, pastors, churches, and more!

From the girl who created custom Myspace pages and designed yearbook pages to the owner of a creative design agency, my story is simple: I love to create content and design concepts for brands and businesses.

In addition to my creative design agency, I am the Director of Media at Encounter Atlanta, a ministry in Atlanta, and the owner of But First, Coffee Shop, an online coffee retailer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ultimately, I love to do what you hate: come up with the content for you to create! I specialize in branding strategy, content creation strategy, and graphic and web design. My goal is to relieve your marketing frustrations by creating custom content ideas for your business and designing quality digital marketing materials for your brand.

Creating comes as naturally to me as breathing and blinking. While things haven’t always been easy, because it comes naturally, there is an ease. The hardest part of my journey has been accepting who I am and how I am. For most of my life, the pressure to have a “careered role” in medicine, technology, or education formed my definition of success. My passions and interests were only supposed to be my side hobbies.

A few years ago, I took a leap of faith and boldly responded to my natural gifting and ability. Instead of pursuing a career as an educator just the rest of my family had, I began my journey as a multimedia creative – and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, coffee is on the menu! As coffee lovers, we love a cute coffee shop with photo-ready aesthetics. A few favorites include C’est la Vie, Tradewinds (get the cookie butter syrup – thank me later!), and Beans and Butter.

One of my favorite things about Atlanta is that there are so many places to go shopping, eat, and have fun. We’d go to places like Ponce City Market, Punch Bowl Social, Puttshack, or Truist Park for a Braves game.

Last, but never least, we’d finish the week off by attending Encounter Atlanta for a Sunday worship service. From our upbeat praise and worship to a life-changing message from Dr. Gabriel Powell, Encounter is a place filled with people who love God and love His people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For the last few years, I’ve said “Jesus saved my soul and my pastor saved my life.” One is eternal. The other is internal. The lady, the person, the businesswoman, I am today and the one who I am becoming is a reflection of God’s love and grace combined with impartation and wisdom from Dr. Gabriel Allen Powell.

In the last 5 years, I have had the pleasure of being developed and matured by one of the greatest leaders to walk the Earth. There isn’t anyone quite like Dr. Gabe:

He will cut you with the truth you need to hear but give you the tools to become better.

His correction is masterfully unpleasant yet wildly encouraging.

His wisdom and insight are mind-blowing and thought-provoking.

He has the ability to pull greatness out of anyone (if you allow him to).

A little credit is an understatement. Thanks to Dr. Gabe, I know with confidence my life’s full purpose, and it has been easier to attack my future full force because of him.
