We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The most important decision I made for myself was to release fear and step outside my comfort zone. For me, it was traumatizing pushing my brand every day in front of people, interacting with others not in my circle, or simply being vulnerable and personable. Thanks to social media, I have the ability to build a platform and gain a faithful audience checking out for my new photoshoot work. However, I must remind myself to be very transparent in my posts and captions about this process of becoming a full-time fashion model. But I always remain positive and determined to transform this dream into a reality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey as an artist is being a print, commercial and fashion model. I have walked for multiple fashion week shows in other cities and states such as New York, California and Miami. I have been blessed as the spokesmodel for Untold Truth Fragrance Line, which is an uni-sex fragrance line based in Columbus, OH and originally debuted in Macy’s. Also, there are several clothing boutiques, hair campaigns and makeup brands I have modeled with, and in return, had opened the door for more networking opportunities and more experience to perfect my craft.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a homegirl visiting Atlanta, then the obvious places for me to take her is definitely hookah spots or lounges.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God always serves at the one I give credit. In these early quiet mornings, I pray and listen to southern gospel music to train my mind and spirit to be positive and understanding of God’s word and where I am in life. I also do yoga to stretch my body and release tension. I find this effective in giving me a head start in being calm. Additionally, I watch Eric Thomas motivational videoes on Youtube to convert my energy from calm to active.
