We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Christina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Simply put, working at a 9 to 5 corporation never suited me. I tried it, I lived it, and I did not enjoy it. It felt very mundane and unfulfilling. But don’t get me wrong, I respect and appreciate traditional workers; We need those workers in this world. I just knew that I was meant for a different route. Being a creative is challenging, exciting, imaginative, and humanitarian. I love being able to reach a masses with my content. I love being able to create without any restriction and rules and being a content creator does just that for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a natural hair influencer, a.k.a, a curly girl. I’m also a product junkie, meaning, I have a closet completely full of natural hair products. I always get asked about the hair products I use to get defined curls. So I decided to focus my content around product reviews for those naturals that struggle with choosing the best products that works for their hair. What I struggle with the most is believing in the content that I produce. If I don’t get the likes or views that I think I’m suppose to get on a video, I start to believe that no one found my content helpful and that I’m not doing my job as an influencer. It can be disappointing and pushing myself to create beyond disappointment is challenging. This goes for my singing career as well. I made the mistake of allowing outside opinions hinder me from believing in my abilities.
A huge part of my journey has been learning to not rely on outside recognition and instead rely on inward purpose. I have to constantly remind myself of my purpose and understand that even if I only reached one person through my content then my mission is fulfilled.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite brunch spot to go to is Red Pepper Taqueria. Their food menu is really good but their tacos are my favorite! Every Saturday and Sunday they serve bottomless mimosas for just $15 so it is always a guaranteed good time if you know what I mean. Next, we would visit the botanical garden located in midtown Atlanta. Every season is a new theme and with every theme, the garden is filled with popular characters created from the most beautiful flowers. We would have a ball taking some dope photos and boomerangs for instagram. Speaking of taking photos for Instagram, It’s only right that I take my bestie to an ATL stable such as the Trap Museum. The Trap Museum represents hip hop and its culture. So it’s another dope place to explore and create memories through a camera. Lastly, I would take my besties to one of the best burger spots in the world, Slutty Vegan! Don’t let the veganism fool you. Slutty Vegan is one of the best burger joints I have ever experienced. The vegan burgers are always on point and the customer service is so fun! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother is one of my biggest supporters. Being a natural hair influencer/content creator, and aspiring singer is not a consistent career choice. But my mother has been there for me both spiritually and financially and I will forever be thankful for that. I also want to give a shoutout to the the faculty and staff, as well as my peers, at Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. AIMM is awesome! Being at this school not only helped to grow my knowledge and abilities as a vocalist, but my confidence has grown so much as well and that’s all thanks to the instructors and peers that I am able to be taught and mentored by at AIMM. If there’s any aspiring musician out there looking to progress with their instrument and audio production skills, AIMM is the place to be.
