Meet Brandi Boyd | Multimedia Strategist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind Salacious was heavily music driven. My favorite r&b songs inspire visions of how I see them illustrated and usually my vision includes lingerie. I adore the casual at home lingerie aesthetic. Just lounging around in a garter set and robe, seems so relaxing but at its finest.

What should our readers know about your business?
Salacious is set apart from other lingerie lines because it was built on a lifelong love for the arts and lingerie. Growing up in Chicago, I was exposed to musicals, plays, museums and the music industry. So although Salacious is not at it’s full potential, I know that the ideas I have, will the exceed expectations of consumers.
Business-wise, it was a process to get started but once you’re in and legalized, that’s when the real work begins. It’s very easy to get sidetracked, but as long as the passion is still there, I know I still have a chance to showcase Salacious and all that it stands for.
I’ve learned multiple lessons being an entrepreneur. One, greatness doesn’t happen overnight unless you have an insane budget to really fund the business. Two, consistency is key for all businesses especially small ones.
Three. If you are passionate and truly care about something, don’t ever give up. If you need a break, take one but always keep the business in your thoughts and continue to promote the brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was in town for a week, we would do absolutely everything! Most people don’t know but I love outdoor activities. I love my glam but I don’t mind getting dirty. So I’d take my friend to the Beltline for scooter riding and fruits bowls from Playa Bowl. Soigne Garden for hookah, dinner, drinks and good vibes. Maybe go to some Buckhead lounges and the mall because we all love shopping lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All great things can start with one persons idea, but it takes the support of others to help push a business along. I would like to thank my parents for supporting me. I was nervous to tell them about Salacious in the beginning since they are somewhat conservative, but they have shown so much support since.
I also would like to thank all my friends that have made purchases, posted my ads, recommendations and just for any overall support. I couldn’t have done it without them.
