Meet B’Onca Pitt | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with B’Onca Pitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B’Onca, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic/creative career because it’s naturally came to me. For as long as I could remember I loved playing in makeup. Most girls would say they watched their mothers wear makeup and was inspired but my mom doesn’t wear makeup at all therefore I was just drawn to it and I’ve been attached ever since . Makeup makes me feel good about myself it gives me a boost of confidence, I love to make others feel the same way I feel after I a good beat . I can see their confidence rise when I put the mirror in their hands and it’s just makes me love what I do even more .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Makeup overall brings me joy and being able to share my love with others gets me excited to start my work day . I’m more of a natural face kind of girl but majority of my clients love a full dramatic beat . I’m self taught and pretty much hopped in the game once I realized I could make a career out of my talents. I started off doing makeup in my bedroom which was my favorite thing in the world. A few months in I had to put makeup on hold because I was in Esthetician and working a retail job . As my school year was ended I set a goal to have a home for my makeup artist and the week after I graduated I was in a shop where I am today ! In the 2 on and off years I’ve been doing makeup the most important thing I constantly remind myself is to stay consistent I feel like it’s something people say a lot and it’s goes over others head but every day you aren’t working towards your goals and dreams is a day you could’ve missed out on an opportunity. I also beat in my head not to compare myself to others because every artist has their own routine, style and path . I want people to see my work and know it’s my work and not even be able to compare it to anybody else’s because who wants to be like everybody else ?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I live in the growing city of Atlanta therefore the options are endless ! If I’m starting off in the morning I’d hit up my favorite breakfast/brunch spots Toast, Breakfast at Barney’s or Milk & Honey for a good time and good food . Mid day activities would include Piedmont park, Six Flags, Georgia Aquarium or Trap Museum. Lastly, the night life the best time of the day my bestfriend would have the time of her life at our lounges and clubs such as Cru lounge, Opium, Escobar or Elleven45 . I personally like to eat good food and listen to good music I enjoy good vibes and scenery !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom gets all the credit for the person I am today. She has been there for me since day one literally, to motivate and encourage to be the best woman I can be . She inspires me because all of the things she accomplished in her life and I just want to make her proud .
