We had the good fortune of connecting with BLIZM and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BLIZM, how does your business help the community?
The independent entertainment community that we serve is always in need of solid, reputable outlets that can help highlight and expose their work. This community is up agains major media and entertainment industry juggernauts with huge budgets and connections. We serve a niche community with a niche service that was crafted to fit their budgets but also operate at a high level consistently. The impact of having your first interview or your music is played for the firs time on a broadcast as an artist is priceless. We prepare indie artists for the bigger platforms so that they are better prepared if and when they reach the highest levels of the industry. If you are a new business, you can afford to advertise with us. If you are promoter you can likely afford to have us come and broadcast your event in comparison with mainstream platforms. If you just started a podcast and don’t have millions f followers but want to expand your audience, we can help. Our impact cannot be understated because the entertainment industry is constantly inundated with new talent and entrepreneurs on a daily basis. We are here to foster and encourage their growth while also providing our audience with quality content.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
K-100 Radio is a live streaming online broadcast that serves the independent entertainment community. We are based in Atlanta, GA but we have listeners and partners all across the country and world. K-100 Radio is an award winning broadcast that has won Radio Station of the Year at three independent award shows and has been nominated 5 other times. Our “Direct Line Interview” series has won Indie Service of the Year and our live music review show, “ILL or KILL” has also won best online radio show. Where we differ from many other online broadcasts and platforms is our respect for the artist community, K-100 was created by actual indie artists unlike most platforms that serve the community. So we actually understand the struggles that they go through. In the beginning, it was a challenge to be taken seriously by the general public because we were an online broadcast long before podcasting became a trend and before streaming took over the industry. Today it is much easier to connect with new listeners, artists and other creatives because everyone is online where we have existed with our grind for over a decade. The independent entertainment industry, be it music, film, media or any other aspect will soon hopefully be able to compete on a bigger scale with the multi-billion dollar conglomerates that influence the mainstream. We’ve been apart of that moment from the day we were founded. It wasn’t easy to get the brand to the level of respect that it has now. We started out begging people to send us music and listen, and now we have thousands of listers consistently. Now we are respected amongst our peers for providing a great platform that has never been associated with polluting the culture with scams, bad business or sub-par content.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is full of things to do, places to party and good food to eat. Even in the middle of a pandemic (although we are not sure if this is a good or a bad thing) There are a ton of great places to eat here, and a lot of locally owned spots with great food and even some national chains. There are way too many good restaurants to pick from, I can’t even begin to start to pick just one or even a few. Of course, if they have never experienced it, hitting an Atlanta Strip Club is a must obviously. We will definitely be checking out some independent music events at venues like iLounge over in East Atlanta Village.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We could not exist without the creatives, dreamers and entrepreneurs and listeners in which we serve. A major shout out to anyone who has ever tuned in, sent us music, did an interview or booked us for an event!
