Meet Blanca Ruiz | Hairdresser

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blanca Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blanca, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Honduras, a small country in Central America that faces many challenges. Growing up in an environment where daily necessities were not guaranteed instilled in me a strong drive to seek a better life for my daughter and myself in the United States. My family in Honduras was always on my mind, serving as a constant source of inspiration and motivation to improve my circumstances.
Determined to create a better life, I worked hard, saved money, and pursued my education to obtain a cosmetology license. The journey was not easy, especially since English is not my first language. However, the unwavering support from my family and my desire to be a role model for my children fueled my perseverance and shaped my character.
After gaining valuable experience working at a hair salon and taking additional classes to further my education, I decided to take the next step in my professional journey: opening my own hair salon. This venture is not just a business for me; it represents the culmination of my hard work and dedication.
My background and upbringing have taught me the importance of resilience, hard work, and the value of community. I aspire to create a welcoming space for my clients and to inspire others in my community to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles they face.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In my business, I prioritize the client experience above all else. I want each person who walks through my doors to feel valued and cared for as an individual, not just another appointment. It’s important to me that every client feels welcomed and appreciated, leaving the salon with a smile and the confidence to take on the world. Kindness and empathy are essential in my salon, creating a positive atmosphere that enhances the experience for everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area, I would make sure they had an unforgettable week!
Day 1:
We would begin the week with a warm welcome dinner at Mojitos – Forum. This is a vibrant restaurant known for its delicious Cuban cuisine and lively atmosphere. We’d enjoy classic dishes like ropa vieja and tostones, paired with refreshing mojitos to toast their arrival
Day 2:
This day would be dedicated to exploring some of Atlanta’s top attractions. We’d start at the Georgia Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world, where we could explore the diverse marine life. Afterward, we’d head to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where we could stroll through beautiful themed gardens and a possible seasonal display.
Day 3:
On the third day, we’d head out to Tallulah Falls, a good way to enjoy the outdoors. We’d take in the stunning views of the waterfalls. In the evening, we’d return to Atlanta and grab dinner at Sugo, a cozy Italian restaurant known for its homemade pasta and warm ambiance.
Day 4:
We’d visit the High Museum of Art and explore the historic Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. For dinner, we’d try Cava, a Mediterranean fast-casual spot where we can customize our bowls.
Day 5:
We’d head to Ponce City Market, where we could shop, explore, and even try out the rooftop amusement park for some thrilling rides and games.
Day 6:
After a busy week, we’d take a more relaxed approach. We’d visit Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for a leisurely hike and some time in nature.
Day 7:
We could visit the World of Coca-Cola to sample different beverages from around the world. For our farewell dinner, we’d return to Mojitos – Forum to relive our first night and celebrate everything we did throughout the week!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to thank all of my clients for their loyalty and support. Your trust in my work has been invaluable to me.
Next, I want to express my gratitude to my college professors, specifically Ms. Jayne Leerskov Durden, Ms. Stan Joy Dyer, and Ms. Jackie Mann. Your encouragement and guidance were instrumental in helping me obtain my cosmetology degree and gave me the courage to open my own salon.
I also want to thank my colleagues, Mary Davila and Heather Gabrielle, for motivating me to start my own business. Your support and camaraderie have been a source of inspiration.
Finally, a special thanks to my wife, Evelyn Arevalo, and my children, Astrid Torres and Rodney Santana. Your unwavering support has been essential to my journey toward success, and I am grateful to have you by my side.
Thank you all for being a part of my journey!
