Meet Blanca Bustamante: Visual artist/ ceo/ director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blanca Bustamante and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blanca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It all started as an idea inspired in memory of my mother. My mother was a purse collector, she absolutely loved her purses! Growing up she always encouraged me to carry a purse everywhere I went to represent a classy lady. I’ve been a traditional visual artist for about 3 years now, recently I decided to expand my creativity and decided to build my own brand Borsellino by Dismorphicbb. Borsellino was an idea planned and executed within two weeks. An idea meant to honor my mother’s existence and her lady like ways. The Borsellino collection is a brand meant to honor art and all types of women; it is designed to combine the street wear, luxury and art world into one. I design each Borsellino to represent a unique fashionable and stylish work of art. I decided to combine art and fashion into these purses to represent a new style as an artist a new era for Dismorphicbb but mainly to give back my audience.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art has always been inspired by my life experiences as what they are, what they have been, and what they will be. Being a traditional artist has been amazing this past 3 years but recently I’ve been eager to expand my creativity and decided to build my own brand Borsellino by Dismorphicbb. Borsellino is a collection of small purses hand painted and designed by me. The Borsellino collection is designed to combine the street wear, luxury and art world into one. Each unique Borsellino design turns your small purse into a fashionable and stylish work of art. Starting as a traditional visual artist and transitioning into creating my own brand was definitely not easy. Before it got to that step there was a lot of things I had to learn, I had to change my mindset, and I had to go through a lot of trial and error. As I grow with my brand I require to put a lot of time, effort and patience into this project but I do it with a passion. Along my journey I learned to trust myself, I learned to use time wisely and most importantly I learned to trust the process. I want the world to know about Borsellino because it’s a very unique brand specially designed for all the ladies. I designed my purses to fit any style from sophisticated looks to streetwear and opulent fashion all while still representing my passion for art. It represents a new form of fashion!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in the city would be little five points. Little five points is a very interesting place to visit you get a glance of local atlanta artists. You can also stop by to get a drink at the surrounding bars and restaurants or stop by to check out some of the most creative shops.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout out in loving memory of my mother Gregoria Sanchez who deserves all the recognition for my success. For inspiring the idea of Borsellino and giving me the strength to keep going with my dreams. But most importantly for shaping me into the young woman that I am today. This one’s for you my love!
