We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Ballard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blake, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success as a photographer over the last decade is my work ethic. I realize that I am very fortunate to love what I do for a living so I am almost always working. My dad instilled in me from a young age to find a job that you love doing so each day it never feels like work. While my job can be very physically and emotionally exhausting, being able to look at the art I created at the end of the day is incredibly fulfilling.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think something unique about my style of photograph is how my background in Greek and Roman Art & Architecture has influenced my work over the years. I always say I like to make people look like statues that have come to life. I think there is an emphasis on the form of the human body and the aspirational ideal of physical excellence represented in my work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m definitely a big Braves fan. Love going to visit the Battery and getting the full experience of the ball park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My management team Good Talent Management has really been integral in pushing me creatively over the years. Having someone in your corner that reminds you to go outside of your comfort zone and not be afraid to fail and take risks as an artist is vital.
