Meet Blade Hudson | Professional Musician, Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blade Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blade, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When it comes to music industry, alot of it is built around trust amongst peers, reliability and reputation. The network you have can increase your chances of bigger doors opening for the opportunities professional musicians & artists seek. There’s also alot of behind the scenes work going on, especially on the production side and what’s happening in studios.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a multi-instrumentalist and music producer originally from the Mississippi Delta. My background is rooted in the blues, my grandfather was a Chicago musician affiliated with Chess Records and my great uncle Eddie Shaw was the bandleader for Howlin Wolf as his saxophonist. My guitar style developed more into Rock n Roll and over the years I kept my skillset well-rounded as a bassist and drummer.
I have learned over the years that having an open mind and being versatile can keep you working as a professional musician. It is not an easy career to chase ,but passion with a strong vision will lead to longevity and developing a brand identity along the way.
I believe by staying dedicated that led to the growth on my social media and a network of talented musicians who managed to achieve their own status and career goals. Staying dedicated to the craft is the only reason why I still perform and record music and not comparing my journey to others. That’s a life lesson I had to learn and keep my mindset free of envy & negative distractions.
My main goal is to be the torch carrier I’m meant to be as an aspiring African-American rock artist who has many musical influences in rnb, funk, soul & the blues.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monday night I’d take my friend to the jam that happens every week at Northside Tavern near downtown. Another hang I dig is going to Little Five Points, there’s always something to do in that area, Tuesday and Wednesday could easily be spent in L5P. The Vortex, Porter, Corner Tavern and Savage Pizza are places I’d stopped at. And hangout at Criminal Records for a moment browsing through music. Of course we’d have to checkout the schedule on Variety Playhouse and Aisle 5, just gotta see who may be performing that week on the different days.
Another hang I dig far as concerts is going to the Coca-Cola Roxy located in “The Battery”, the whole area has alot to do and I like to stop in ASW Distillery for cocktails, That would be a good Thursday option.
On Friday going to the GA Aqaurian & the World of Coke would be a good hang and while out later that night swing by one of my usuals, Hudson Grille.
Saturday I would suggest exploring East Atlanta Village. I usually have a good time at multiple places like The Earl, 529 bar, EAV Thai & Sushi, Banshee and Gaja Korean Bar.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a shout to a local artist friend who recommended me for an interview. Thanks to Sydney Hunter who’s known as Mahogany Muse, and former bandmate friend Dara Carter who was apart of my Atlanta journey in the beginning. Also my guitar mentor Adam Holland of Steve Augeri Band, and my older cousin Eddie Vaan Shaw Jr. who’s a blues legacy and put the guitar in my hands at a young age.
