We had the good fortune of connecting with Big Dev and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Big, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Deal with like minded people. Its important in the business that you’ve created to deal with people of the same mind set as you. Will they do everything as you would, no they won’t but thats the beauty in it all. People coming together like pieces to a great puzzle. In my opinion it makes it all mean so much more.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work in the music industry as an engineer, producer, and writer. Since 2011 I’ve worked with clients in the states and abroad on different phases of their projects and careers. Personally I attribute the success I’ve had to just honest business and always working hard to be prepared for what it is that my clients need of me. Was it always easy or better yet did I miss a dollar or two by standing by my morals… yes. But I can say the respect of me standing on those morals and keeping it honest has in the long run made me more clients and money then I’ve lost. Some lessons I’ve picked up along the way is to learn a balance for your personal life and work life. You don’t want to finally take a day off get around your family and friends and look or sound like a zombie or slave to your business or job. Finding a balance is most important thing I always try to tell a new engineer or producer. Whats a big thing that the world can take from my art and brand? You’ll always know I gave a care about the work we made and itll be the best representation of what you envisioned the world to hear.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We hitting breakfast at the house, got to start with some home made vibes. Then we taking it to downtown and little 5 points to walk around and vibe. Any parking lot concerts def got to hit those. Love movies so kill two birds with one stone and get some food too at the studio movie grill in marietta. End out wit some bowling and pool. But of course if its one of my music people then know for sure we getting studio time in that equation too. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To be completely honest it belongs to an insurmountable amount of people. I’ve been at this since childhood and its been so many that has made Big Dev into the person I am today. From my brother, Neilson my friend, all the way to my other family and friends especially my wife, I owe them the world for the part that they’ve played in my growth and career.
