We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Xaviera Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca Xaviera, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be that I crafted great Black Romance stories, and movies that people will dissect for many years to come. I want people to write about how I introduced new writers to many different avenues.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been writing since early 2016. I started off writing Urban Fiction. Honestly, I can say that I never knew being a writer was in the cards for me. I always thought that I was supposed to be sitting behind a desk in a corporate office. For a while, I did that. I sat behind a desk while I was still in the beginning stages of my writing career. When I truly fell in love with writing and perfecting my craft, I decided to put finishing my Master classes on hold, leave my job as a Medical Officer Coordinator to focus solely on my writing. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I could have ever made in my life. I perfected my craft by reading other books that I thought was successful, purchasing books that could help me flesh out characters and storylines, and using avid readers as test readers, so I could see if it would be well received. I try to make each of my stories sound different than the last. I think that’s one thing that could be separate me from my peers. Getting to where I am presently, was not easy. It took a lot of reading, a lot of late nights, and neglecting my family and friends when I put myself on strict deadlines. There are several lessons that I’ve learned along the way. One important was to always trust your gut when it comes to working with people. I’ve had to learn that I need to always protect myself from vultures in this industry. They approach you and make you feel like they care, but in reality, they don’t. Always trust your gut. Always do your own research, even if you trust the people giving you the information. Since I’ve started writing in 2016, I’ve opened up services to help new authors coming in the game, such as author coaching for new authors & consultations for older authors. I like to give authors the information that I didn’t get when I came into the industry. In 2020, since I haven’t released under my own name, due to legal issues with my former publisher, I’ve opened my ghostwriting business. There are people who have great stories to tell, but do not not know how to put them on paper. I’m here to help. I want the world to know that if it’s God’s Will, you are going to see my stories on TV one day.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I live in Jacksonville, Fl now. Our city is so spread out. All I know for a fact is that we’d be on the beach and in the bar all week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since, I’ve been in this industry, people have come and gone. I’ve learned that this industry is very fickle, and people will only be cool with you, if you can do something for them. Next to my family, and my long time friends; I have alot of people that I could shout out, but the main two are Latisha Buntin, and BriAnn Nero, who are both authors who write under Tya Marie & BriAnn DaNae, respectively. These women have been a constant in my life. Have you ever had some people to just…. get you. They do. We are all authors, so it’s easy for me to talk to them for hours about life, books, and more. As a creative, a lot of people don’t understand how your brain works, but they do, which makes it easier for us to encourage each other and push each other to keep going.
