We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Bee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is extremely important because you don’t ever want to say to yourself “I wish I would’ve done this or that” as you get older. I believe that we never make mistakes, we just learn lessons. So even if that risk seemed like a failure or too big, it never was a failure because at least you tried and didn’t give up on yourself. I’m a firm believer in taking risks and it has played a major role in my journey of life. My first risk was moving to LA from Detroit at 17. I was alone, no family, no friends, and I just did it. After living here for 10 years, it was the best decision I’ve made. Some family & friends thought it was too expensive, though I wouldn’t last here and I did. I’ve worked for some major television networks and if I didn’t take that risk I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am always betting on myself and I think others should do the same.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up in Detroit, MI and at the age of 17, I decided to go to film school. Which was super risky! At 19, I created a digital talk show showcasing young entrepreneurs and interviewing a wide range of celebrities. After serving my purpose in filmmaking I had always had a passion for beauty and always found the beauty in women. What sets me apart from others is that I’m simply not afraid to put myself out there. I got to where I am today professionally by building relationships and learning all aspects of film and digital media. It definitely was not easy! I’ve always been pre-judged by my appearance because I was a girly girl in the film industry behind the scenes. I had to fight for not just only being a girly girl but that I took what I did seriously. I overcame the challenges by going to the bathroom stalls and crying to my mother on the phone and her pushing me to get out there and kill it. I’ve learned to continue to put myself out there and to remind myself I am doing a great job, which is hard! I want people to know I was a girl who just wanted to do the right thing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my BFF arrives in LA. I am definitely taking her to Starbucks first, then to my house to drop her bags off. We are then heading to grab breakfast somewhere in the valley. Then I’ll drive her to Hollywood Blvd, Melrose, Rodeo Drive and to the beach. After the beach, we take a nap. Then we will have drinks at a Mexican restaurant, come back to my place, and go out for the night. During her stay we will go to Runyon, day parties, all the beaches and eat, eat & eat!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my family and friends. Along with my busy bees who have supported me on this journey since I was 16. I am extremely grateful for my mentor Monica Marie Jones, who has truly molded me in self-development and growing every year as I become a woman.
