We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernadette Mavare Anzola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernadette, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Knowing whether to keep going or give up comes down to passion and purpose.
Building a small business isn’t easy, and there are definitely rough days when you question everything. Imposter syndrome is very real, and some days it makes you doubt yourself more than you should. But when you’re truly passionate about what you do and confident in your talent, you can’t let those thoughts win. If it’s something you’re good at and something you believe in, you find a way to keep going. You show up, you promote your work, and you trust yourself. When something is truly your dream and aligned with who you’re meant to be, giving up stops being an option. It’s about finding your passion and choosing it, even on the hard days.

What should our readers know about your business?
Bliss-B began as a passion for baking, but it has grown into an experience-driven dessert brand designed to elevate celebrations. What sets us apart is the quality of our ingredients and our commitment to excellence in every detail. We believe exceptional desserts start with exceptional components, and that standard defines everything we create.

We are constantly exploring new ways to elevate our service. Our dessert cart is a reflection of that innovation, an interactive concept that allows us to be present at every type of milestone. From intimate family birthdays to large-scale corporate events, Bliss-B adapts to each space while maintaining the same level of quality and presentation.

Getting to where we are today has been grounded in faith, resilience, and continuous growth. I truly believe God places the right people and opportunities in our path at the right time. That guidance has been instrumental in our journey. At the same time, building a business is far more complex than mastering a craft. You must study operations, finance, branding, and leadership. You have to evolve constantly.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that vision requires discipline. Passion may start a business, but structure sustains it. Bliss-B represents faith, perseverance, and intentional growth. It stands as proof that when you combine excellence, innovation, and unwavering commitment, you can build something that leaves a lasting impression long after the last dessert is served.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I would create a mix of city energy, nature, culture, and meaningful experiences.

We would absolutely spend time at Ponce City Market. I love the creative atmosphere, the food hall, and the rooftop views. It represents the modern and vibrant side of Atlanta. It is actually a place we have manifested being part of one day with Bliss B. From there, we would walk the Atlanta BeltLine at sunset, grab tea, and enjoy the rhythm of the city.

I would take her to Mercedes-Benz Stadium because we love going to soccer matches there. The energy and the crowd make it such an exciting experience.

We also love spending time at The Battery Atlanta and going to baseball games at Truist Park. The atmosphere there feels lively and fun, especially on game days.

Since I feel deeply connected to nature, we would spend a peaceful morning at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, then plan a trip to Rock City Gardens and Ruby Falls. I love places that make you pause and feel grounded.

As an animal lover, I would also take her to Wild Animal Safari. Seeing animals in open spaces brings me peace. Being vegetarian has strengthened that connection.

We also love going to farmers markets, both as vendors and as customers. Supporting small businesses is something I truly believe in. Some of the most incredible products and food come from passionate entrepreneurs who may not always have large marketing budgets, but their quality and service are exceptional.

Every day we would try food from a different culture because Atlanta’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths.

To me, Atlanta is ambition, diversity, faith, nature, and community all in one place. If you experience it intentionally, it stays with you.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my family. I am extremely family-oriented, and their support has been the foundation of everything I’ve built. My husband, my parents, and my sisters have been a fundamental part of my journey. Their belief in me and constant encouragement have given me the strength to keep going, especially during the most challenging moments of entrepreneurship.

I also want to recognize my clients and community. Every order and every event has helped shape Bliss-B into what it is today.

A film that has deeply inspired me is The Pursuit of Happyness. I admire how honest it is about struggle. It reminds me that building something meaningful requires sacrifice, discipline, and persistence.

And even my dogs deserve recognition, they remind me daily to pause, reset, and stay grounded.
