We had the good fortune of connecting with Bena Klier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bena, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own creative fashion line and storefront was how will my gifts and talents affect people when they; 1. Come into my store 2. How will they feel trying on and even purchase my creative looks. Also it was never so much about being rich yet the process of staying in business in the mist of the pandemic without getting loans etc.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the founder and owner of House of La’Rue and Aa’Zure Mens Fashions which is located inside Avenue X Fashions where I am the co owner. What sets my brand apart is that we offer Unapologetically Unique Fashions and Footwear for men and women. I must say I am where I am now due to Jehovah God’s Grace and Mercy also to lessons learned from being in the red and how to maintain while working my way out of it. Nothing is easy Everything is Progress. The one thing well a few things I would like the world to know about House of La’Rue Fashions, Aa’Zure is that you must do what you know to do. Not worrying about the uncontrollable. Never stop dreaming Always keep learning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to cook so first after getting them settled in my guest room I would cook them a meal. Then after we must hit the High Museum on Jazz Night, have a few cocktails and admire the artistic works. Then I would def take them to which ever hottest bar there is around (depending on the weather) I am located outside the downtown area so a nice Hookah lounge would work.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must shout out Jehovah God and His son Jesus Christ first. Then to my bestfriend, my sexy, my lover and most of all my Partner for Life Julius “JCaesar” Bouler founder of CheqMate Fashions. He has always inspired me to be the best me. I must also shout out my father who no longer walks this earth yet he is forever in my heart. He was always encouraging and well just “daddy”. My shout out to my mother for blessing me with the gifts of creativity and always pushing for perfection. My three older siblings who within each of them have instilled into me the woman I am now. My enemies and naysayers for keeping me on my grind to be better. To those that have listened and tried to work my scrambled mindset.. I thank you
