We had the good fortune of connecting with Bee Gandy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bee, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Hmmm, SO many lessons! Haha! I’d say one of the most important that I’ve learned recently is how important work/life balance is and how imperative it is to my business to take care of ME! As a service provider, ESPECIALLY working with Brides, I’m required to give so much of myself to my clients and my work. In order to do that I have to be whole! You know the saying?..You cant pour from an empty cup! In order to do this, I’ve had to learn how to set BOUNDRIES! I’m moving out of the habit of working all night, responding to text messages at dinner, taking calls from my son’s games etc. Striving for more sleep, actually scheduling lunches and breaks into my schedule! As someone who is passionate about their work, it’s hard, but I’m making it a conscious effort to prioritize me a little more each day:)
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In business, in life, in motherhood, in womanhood…there are always challenges. How we respond, react, and push forward are what set you apart in your journey to greatness! I’m most proud of the way I have remained true to myself, values and principle even as an entrepreneur. I’ve never been motivated by financial success, I think it’s simply a side effect of doing good business. If you do the work, do good by people and stay grounded to your core..you can go far.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, okaaaay let’s see!! A weeek!!?? I can help with a weekend, other than that I’d have to make some calls haha! I love brunch! and Atlanta has so many bomb spots for that so brunch is a must! One of my faves is The Real Milk & Honey! (So good!) (I also really love Nana’s Chicken & Waffles. Krog street Market! Can’t leave town without Jeni’s Ice Cream ( Then a walk across the beltline! There’s always great musicians along the way) The Battery is also another one of my fave areas! You can catch a Braves game and have dinner or drinks there..so many great options! I just realized all my activities are food related haha! Welp..Yall should know I love food 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people I love and respect professionally whom have sown a seed into me as a business woman! From my amazing Business Coach Tiyana Robinson, To my dear friend (and uber talented Beauty Educator) Terri Watson! To my second in command whom is practically my sister at this point Jasmine Umrani! Like, between my grand ideas and craaazy scheduling (insert evil laugh hehe), I wouldn’t be where I am without her! These women have gotten me through some of the business trenches okay!?? Lol! However, This shoutout is for my right hand man (or would it be my left Lol ) My husband! Nobody has to put up with my shenanigans more than him! He has been my number one supporter from the very beginning. He encouraged me when I decided to leave my job of 8.5 years, knowing I didn’t really have a solid plan haha! Whew..that was crazyyyy! lol! There are a lot of high’s and low’s in business, and I’m not even just talking about financially, It’s literally an emotional rollercoaster and having a solid and constant source of support is so necessary! I’m super thankful to be on this journey with my best friend.
