We had the good fortune of connecting with Bambi Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bambi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest, I just sort of stumbled into it. I started out creating artwork and websites for bands I was in, but then started having other people reach out to me asking for help with their projects. One thing led to another and I just found myself needing to start charging people for my time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m proud of all the wonderful friends I’ve made! Almost all of my jobs have been through word-of-mouth, so I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without my wonderful friends. All of my clients have genuinely become my friends. My heart feels like it’s swelling with pride to have been chosen to do so many jobs, but I’m mostly proud of how my circle of friends has increased. It was really hard in the beginning because I was learning on my own through trial and error. I struggled to understand the programs I was using and how to find clients once I was starting to to wrap my head around the business. If not for such kind and understanding people in the beginning, I would never have gotten as far as I have.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First off- every morning I’d suggest we sleep in because I am definitely NOT a morning person! Monday: Go visit the incredibly wonderful Puttkammer family at one of their Galactic Quest comic book stores in Lawrenceville & Buford followed by dinner at Sugar Hill Subs.
Tuesday: Check out an exhibit at the Center for Puppetry Arts followed by dinner at Cafe Sunflower in Buckhead.
Wednesday: Spend all day hanging out at the High Museum of Art. Dinner at Mirko Pasta on Roswell Rd.
Thursday: Start with espresso and pain au chocolat at Café Vendôme. Then, at sunset, I’d want to drive over to the Dr. Ralph L. Buice, Jr. Observatory at Fernbank to look through their Cassegrain Telescope! They have a wonderful program that takes place at sunset on Thursday nights!
Friday: Dinner at El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant in Alpharetta, then go watch a band (if I’m not playing!!!) at Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill in Alpharetta!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Every single wonderful person who has be generous enough to answer any questions I’ve had as I’ve been learning my various trades! Buddy Finethy & Jas Ingram are at the top of that list, but there are far too many to single all of them out.
