We had the good fortune of connecting with Babes’ Blades and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Babes’, what do you want people to remember about you?
You know that song “I Was Here” by Beyoncé, yea it pretty much sums up everything for me. • “I lived, I loved. I was here.” • “I did. I’ve done, everything that I wanted & it was more than I thought it would be.” • I want my children to become & continue my legacy one day. They’ll be able to accomplish so much more than I, because they’ll get too see firsthand all that their mother accomplished. I want people to remember that I never gave up, I never gave in, & I never conformed to any of THEIR expectations. I want to be remembered as the girl that did whatever the fuck she wanted with no regards to others opinions or feelings of her. My notoriety will leave behind the mark of my legacy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Licensed Esthetician that specializes in Eyelash Extensions application & all other cosmetic eyelash treatments. I recently relocated from New York, where I serviced all five boroughs, to Atlanta, GA. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I mainly offer my services on a traveling basis; meaning, my clients never have to leave the comfort of their own homes for an appointment, unless they choose to. • I’ve tried to incorporate a lot of my personality into my brand, as far as inspiration for the name and concept. “Babes’ Blades” is actually just a play on words from an animae show I would watch growing up, called “Beyblades”. I have no idea why that came to mind when I originally made the decision on starting a lash business, but it just stuck with me. Shoutouts to my plug. • I am most proud of my willingness & dedication to continue to pursue into a field that is incredibly tough to break into. Especially since I’ve always wanted to pursue my education in law. I know, major career jump. I ultimately made the decision to switch after quitting a full time position at a law firm where I was employed by an attorney who enjoyed gaslighting his assistants for sexual favors. I definitely needed the mental break & decided that working for myself would allow me the grace required for me to learn a bit more about myself. • I don’t believe I have yet to reach the pinnacles that I plan on accomplishing just yet, but just knowing that I am progressing in the right direction is motivation enough for me to continue down my path. Moreover, even knowing that I’ve grown as an individual since the beginning of this journey drives me to learn more about myself, my limits, and boundaries.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lol first of all, we are not staying in nobody’s Atlanta. I’ll meet my best friend at the airport & we’ll go anywhere but here! Lol I’m sorry to say but I am a HUGE city girl & the city life out here just does not give … for me at least. Maybe I haven’t explored Atlanta as much bc I’m such a homebody/workaholic. • But if we were to plan something a spa day has to be included in the itinerary, along with a couple brunches here & there with a few unlimited mimosas, some art gallery visits, and a night of bar hopping for sure. I also love trying new foods from all over the world; as do most of my friends. Definitely would have to go to the gun range & do some axe throwing to let off some steam too! Honestly, most of my friends are homebodies/workaholics too so majority of our time in between all of those activities might just be spent drinking wine & smoking, while ordering food & binge watching whatever show we’re going crazy about at that moment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother. She walks this path with me & because of that I am never alone or without wisdom. Also the universe. It knew who to remove from my life and when; but I am forever grateful to have always known what traits I should inherit and make my own, along with which of my more toxic traits I should release. Honestly, the people that have motivated me the most were the ones that actually did not want any good for me. Badmind. Every time someone actively tried to gatekeep or close a door that they believed was not meant for me, they were in fact doing the exact opposite & creating more opportunities for me to show up as who I am & not who they claim me to be.
