We had the good fortune of connecting with B33n Had It (Better Known As P.L.M. IM HIM) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B33n Had It, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Off bat, my relationship with GOD because the things that GOD put in my heart to do, like moving with optimism and paying respect (or kindness) forward to the people I meet, have been huge factors in many of my biggest industry relationships. A great example of this is my chance encounter with a pianist and aspiring producer some years back in Guitar Center. When I initially saw him playing the piano, a part of the old me (the pessimistic me) said “don’t even waste your time trying to talk to him, he’s stuck up”, but the new spirit that GOD placed in me said “yeah he does have a peculiar posture, but what did I tell you about assuming things, JUST GO TALK TO HIM!!!!”… I wrestled in my mind a moment but eventually listened to that optimism. Years later, he would go on to put me in rooms with musician’s like Wale, Roscoe Dash, TM88, Sonny Digital etc…… Today, he is now a Multi-Platinum-Grammy-Award-Winning-Producer and dear friend of mine, J. Bravo (1/2 of Billboard Hitmakers).

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a music professional who as an: A&R, Executive-Producer, Studio Owner, Artist, & Recording-Engineer has made notable contributions to the music industry; I have an undeniable “ear” for identifying talent and GREAT music.

A vivid example of my ear for music is, while working with J. Bravo on Roscoe Dash’s “2.0 Mixtape”, I took note of a talented singer. As I listened to him record parts on the project, I began to say to everyone around “yo! shawty is one of the coldest male singers I’ve ever heard!..Like are y’all hearing this, somebody needs to push him!!” etc…”. After realizing that my words were falling on deaf ears and learning a little about the singers situation, I began to feel that if I didn’t do something his talent might never see the light of day.

Eventually I did do something, by linking him with a super-dope producer & homie of mine that I knew had some FIRE RnB beats in the cut. The very next morning, my producer homie called me excited saying “you need to come and hear this man, I think we might got one!”. I rushed over to his place where he played the record.
After barely making it through the first chorus, I stopped the track and told him bruh, Issa Hit!..
That “record” now known as “I Luv This Sh*t” ft. Trinidad James” by August Alsina (Produced By KnuckleHead), is 2x Platinum and the duo went onto make the Billboard #1 RnB & Hip Hop album “Testimony”..

I think it’s safe to say, I DEFINITELY HAVE AN EAR FOR IDENTIFYING TALENT AND GREAT MUSIC!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I’d recommend some dope eats: Maggiano’s, J. Alexander’s, Wadada, Clean Eatz, and FreshOneKitchen are a few of my fav’s for clean eats and places like American Deli, Bando Wingz, Chef Rob’s, ATL Breakfast Club, and Velvet Taco are fire for some more traditional favs.

Although city staples like Lennox and Phipps are always on the list and “hidden gems”  like Ponce Roof Top offer a bit of nuance from the typical line up, in my experience the most requested place is probably Magic City shout out to my Uncle Charles (manager), people seem to always enjoy Magic’s lol smh.

And on the studio vibes since my studio is currently closed for remodeling, I’d have to recommend Kay Oh over at @twenty96studios.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Sheesh! Feels like I’m receiving my Grammy now lol.. No but seriously, so many people have played a role.. but one for sure I want to say is Trini (@Trinidad_LaBruja). In the short 2 or so years that I’ve known her, she has connected me with more people than others have in an entire decade. She works beyond hard as an actress (and more) & is always trying to help others at every turn. A truly genuine and rare individual that definitely deserves a BIG Shoutout!!!
