We had the good fortune of connecting with B. Wynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B., why did you pursue a creative career?
Art is in my blood. My mother is very creative. She paints, draws, sews, and owns her own gemstone jewelry business. She makes each piece of jewelry by hand.

My father is a full time artist also. He creates sculptures, murals, etc.

I don’t think that I could have avoided being creative if I tried.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my vision. Everyone has their own unique ideas, style, thoughts, creative flow, etc. I think this part of creating your own lane and your own look. I started by creating custom pieces, and wanted the pieces to be conversation starters to create a bit of a buzz.

To get to where I am professionally today, it took lots of perseverance and hard work. I had to overcome lots of challenges through mental toughness. Blood, sweat, and tears is a real thing. You have to continue to level up and push through challenges. You have to learn to embrace the good and the bad…the victories and the failures are all important.

I really just want to have fun with my art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love a good rooftop bar and a good restaurant, so I would definitely take my bestie to one of those type of spots. I would definitely drive them around DC and give them the rundown about the history of different areas, landmarks, etc.

There are so many new restaurants and bars in the DC area that I can’t really pick a favorite at the moment. I really enjoy CopyCat on H Street though. Their beef noodles are banging. For coffee and a cool work environment, I would take them to Vigilante Coffee in Hyattsville, MD.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course my family deserves lots of recognition for their love and support, but I think that lots of people play an important part in my story…

I think that my whole village deserves credit in my story.

I’ve learned from lots of people and I am inspired by lots of people. I’ve taken what I’ve learned from folks throughout and applied to my business. If I gave a shoutout, the list would be pretty long.

Shoutout to my family, homies, mentors, coaches, and fellow creatives. They are all a source of inspiration for me.
