We had the good fortune of connecting with B. Mechele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B., why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue an artistic career as a plus model because its something that I’m passionate about. Most of the time I get to be in control of my own creative process when it is time to shoot. I get to pick out my own clothes, accessories & hair styles when I shoot. Although I am fairly new to modeling (2 years in) I want this to be my career, I want to be a paid model who works with big brands and my face is in major stores. Having an artistic & creative career is fun. You are always thinking of something new to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a plus size model & influencer has been challenging but fun. By challenging I mean I had to really push myself to step outside of my shell & comfort zone so I could pursue being a plus size model. I stay true to myself & don’t try to be like anyone else or do what anyone else does. I take pictures & create content that I love & that’s what sets me apart from others. I’m most excited about the New Year (2024). I want to elevate in 2024, work with new brands & get brands deals. Modeling hasn’t been easy it has its ups and down especially when trying to balance work, bills & having the time & money to book shoots. I want the world to know me (B.Mechele) as a beautiful & hard working plus model & influencer who wants to make an impact on the world & I know that I will do that. Stay Tuned!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I live in Decatur, Ga which is a metro city outside of Atlanta. There are great spots in Decatur & also in Atlanta. I will name some places below.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! I would love to give credit & recognition to two awesome companies who help plus models like myself grow, develop their portfolio & showcase different body types. Both companies are owned by black women. The first company is Arita Lashon & the second is Big Muvas House. Both companies have helped me grow & step outside of my comfort zone as an introverted plus size model. They have helped me build my model portfolio & just become a better me. I wouldn’t want to be apart of any other companies. I truly thank them for all that they have done for me.
