We had the good fortune of connecting with Aye RK and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aye, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Continuing to remain authentic in every aspect of the music that I make. I feel that creating a facade and fake lifestyle would morally take away from my music. People also tend to gravitate more to realistic music that they can relate to.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The things that sets me apart from other artist is the content that I create and how I actually structure my music. I don’t talk about typical things that people rap about but I also like to sample old school techniques of music to generate a mellow feel. I got to where I am today musically by studying all types of different music and artist just to get a feel for what brought them success. It’s not easy and it takes months/years. I overcame that by being able to take time each day to listen to some type of music regardless of what it is. Over time I’ve learned that everyone’s success doesn’t operate on the same time scale and that some people take music serious and others are doing it because others are. I want people to know that my story is 100% who I am and that my creativity expands to even farther reaches.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places to be in Atlanta has to be downtown. There are just so many restaurants to go to out here. I’d start out with a trip to Atlanta Breakfast Club, followed by lunch at Gusto. I may take a trip to Ahaute Cookie for a nice dessert cookie, and in the evening go to Roc South Cuisine for dinner. To end the night we’d go somewhere like Top Golf or one of the many lounges throughout the City. To me the most fun and exciting people are open minded. People that know how to have an excellent time regardless of where we decide to go. The city might just be one of the most interesting cites to see, but sometimes a trip to the surrounding Atlanta areas that have a lot of nature aspects to them are the best.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout-out to my manager Aaron for believing in me enough to take on the challenges I need to be successful in the music industry. I know it’s a lot of work on top of regular work but I know he’ll also make it happen for me. I’d also like to shoutout my early fans that support my music. Without them I would have been given up on music completely.
