Meet Aviva Wolmer | CEO Group Chair | Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aviva Wolmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aviva, how do you think about risk?
Stepping outside our comfort zone and trying new things is pivotal to learning and growing. It is said that one does not accomplish anything, if they dont make the decision to try first. The word risk is commonly seen as negative because it connotes a chance to lose out. Risk in reality is an opportunity. An opportunity to try something new, to innovate, to grow as a person. In my mind it is much more risky to live in the comfort of the status quo than it is try new things where the outcome is unknown and the rewards can be incredible. While the predictable outcomes of the status quo are just that – predictable, no great invention or learning ever came from the predictable.
I find myself personally challenging myself to step outside of my comfort zone regularly. I have a fear of heights and yet I have skydived and hang glided several times. Each time I go up there is a fear and feeling of panic and then a thrill that I am seeing and experiencing things I never could if I stayed with two feet on the ground. I am not the most outgoing person and you would not know that if you met me. I know that meeting new people and asking deep questions, leads to incredible connection and learning. Building a network allows me to help others and have a greater impact on the world. Yet starting the conversation with someone new is challenging for me. At this point in my career I decided to start a business that requires significant cold outreach to meet potential clients. Something I never would have thought would be in a role of mine in my life. I took a risk and said I can do it. I haven’t done it before and that doesn’t mean i cant do it now. It’s still hard to pick up the phone and make the call and it gets easier everyday. I am unbelievably grateful for each of the conversations I have had because they have shaped me into who I am and I have grown from each and every one.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a Vistage Chair, I’ve created an environment that brings diverse perspectives and experiences to CEOs who have a relentless passion to continuously drive their businesses to new levels. Our group is a mastermind of CEOs who come together regularly to share ideas and experiences and help one another avoid wrong turns and accelerate towards their goals. In addition to the group, I work with my members one on one as an executive coach. I help them understand the root cause of problems they are facing, gain perspective on opportunities and connect them with resources and individuals with shared experiences. As individuals we do not know what we do not know. What I can tell you is there is a lot that we have never learned or experienced and It is an amazing feeling to watch my members share their experiences and help each other drive their businesses to the next level faster than they would have gotten their on their own.. Collective wisdom is much greater than the most experienced individual’s wisdom. Those who are open to growing and learning who are ambitious and dont have to have all the right answers for themself, thrive in a peer group environment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
