We had the good fortune of connecting with Averri Simone Liggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Averri Simone, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I actually don’t believe in the traditional idea of work-life balance. When I hear that term, I think of a balancing scale, where one side has to give in order for the other to rise. That constant back-and-forth feels unrealistic, especially as an entrepreneur. Instead, I strive for work-life harmony.

For me, harmony means building systems that support the life I want to lead. That includes automating repetitive tasks, streamlining my client processes, and intentionally structuring my calendar so that I have the freedom to focus deeply on work—or to step away completely when I need rest. Over time, I’ve learned that it’s not about doing everything at once; it’s about designing a business that runs even when I need to pause.

I’ve come to see “balance” not as an equal split, but as the ability to move between roles, both personally and professionally, without feeling like I’m dropping the ball. Systems allow me to do that with less guilt and more ease.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder of Black Women Moguls, where I work with entrepreneurs to build streamlined systems so they can stop being the bottleneck in their business and finally scale with structure. As a Systems Strategist and Marketing Automation Expert, I specialize in helping service-based entrepreneurs create workflows, automate their lead generation, and implement tools that allow their business to run, even when they need to rest.

What sets my work apart is that I don’t believe in throwing a bunch of tools at people and calling it strategy. I focus on intentional, sustainable solutions that work for the real day-to-day of entrepreneurs—especially women who are juggling multiple roles, responsibilities, and realities. I bring a unique perspective shaped by my background in public administration, government, and nonprofit work managing multi-million dollar contracts, and I use that lens to help my clients create systems that not only look good but actually function.

Getting to this point wasn’t easy. I’ve faced seasons of burnout, self-doubt, and had to navigate the steep learning curve of entrepreneurship, especially while building a brand as a Black woman in tech and systems. But each challenge helped me refine my mission and get clearer on who I serve and why. I overcame those moments by putting into practice the very thing I teach: building systems that support you when motivation runs low and life gets unpredictable.

What I want the world to know is success doesn’t have to come at the cost of your peace. You can build a business that honors your time, your values, and your vision. That’s the kind of legacy I’m helping other business owners create and that’s what I’m most proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would make sure we curated a week that gave them a full taste of the city—food, culture, creativity, and a little bit of fun they’ll talk about long after they leave.

We would kick things off at Ponce City Market or Krog Street Market—you can’t go wrong with either. They’re perfect because they offer options: shopping, dining, drinks, and walking the Beltline all in one place. I love experiences where you can just go with the flow, and those spots let you do exactly that.

For food, we would make stops at Breakfast at Barney’s for a brunch moment and Apartment 4B for dinner—it’s such a vibe and gives a fresh, elevated take on Caribbean-inspired cuisine. Both have the ambiance and flavor to match.

To add some creative fun, could do something like a signature perfume-making workshop, candle-making, or a sip and paint night—those types of activities are not only fun, but they create memories. And I would definitely scour Eventbrite looking for the best rooftop parties, because there’s always something happening in Atlanta if you know where to look.

If their visit happens to fall on the First Friday of the month, we’re heading to First Fridays at the High Museum as it’s an amazing mix of art, culture, music, and energy all in one night.

Atlanta has so many layers, and I love creating a personalized experience that captures the best of the city—from the soulful to the sophisticated.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a heartfelt shoutout to my business besties—Ebonie, Takia, and Amber. These women have been an incredible source of strength, encouragement, and real talk throughout my journey. We support each other not just in business, but in life. We’re there for the wins and the setbacks, the launches and the late-night vent sessions.

What makes our bond so special is that we show up for each other consistently. We meet regularly to check in on how we’re really doing—not just professionally, but personally. And our group chat? It stays live. Whether it’s sharing resources, hyping each other up, or holding space when someone needs to process something heavy, we’re truly invested in one another’s growth.

Having that kind of sisterhood has been a game changer. It’s not just about being seen—it’s about being understood and supported without conditions. I’m beyond grateful for them.
