We had the good fortune of connecting with Ava Nj and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ava, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Keep going in whatever your trying to do. You never who watching and you don’t want to miss out on any possibility or opportunity. Think about it, if I wasn’t posting my art & music for years I probably wouldn’t have this interview. It gets hard sometimes but you gotta believe you can make something happen especially coming from the ghettos I’m from. And far as the giving up part I’ll say this don’t spend too much time on something that’s not working or your skill may not be meant for that field so be smart and pay attention.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel my art stand out from others because of the style, time, and quality I put into my work. Don’t get me there’s a lot of dope artist out there and when I see really good work it pushes me to go home to create something good as that or better. I’m excited about my art and music in a few ways. One my grandfather was more of a father figure to me as a kid and we would spend a lot of time in his room drawing, watching cartoons and him cutting my hair for school. He died in 96 when i was still a kid and he is part of the reasons why i still draw today. Also people would always tell me what i can and what i cant do all my life so that would push me to show them that I’m DOPE and will be successful one of these days! I want the world to know keep going even when that shit look impossible believe in yourself and GOD got you trust the process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting me for a week long trip in Jersey because that’s where I’m from, we would go food shopping first because living on the east coast can get expensive lol. Hit a few malls like “Jersey Gardens’ Woodbridge Mall” or American Dream Mall” shop around a little bit. Drive around Jersey to show the environment and give a little history. We can go to the gym, basketball court and hit the studio to make some records. Also I’m a pot head so we would definitely smoke a few and head out to NYC to party.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my grandmother for showing me how to survive in life period along with the other family members that actually care about me in my journey. Also I would like to shout out my son for keeping me focused as a young man and striving to do better than my father did.
