Meet Autumn Berrier | Wedding Photographer, Speaker, and Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn Berrier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Autumn, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I have a whole routine in the morning of affirmations after getting up at 5am. However, there is one that is so powerful and I highly recommend other to you…
“Show me how good it can get!”
It has truly brought so many things in my life that I could never imagine.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My adventure into photography started 13 years ago. I was fascinated by it when some neighbors of mine showed me their abstract photography portfolio. About a week later I went and bought a small point and shoot camera and went around taking pictures of random things and posting it to my Flickr account.
Once I had my daughter, it was game over with abstract. All I wanted to do was document her which then lead to wanting to photograph others. However, once I had my first taste of couples, I was hooked and turned my business into more weddings and engagements.
One point I tried to make to never let go of with my clients is to always be there. Whether it was to help them with some hard decisions for the wedding, helping on outfits for their engagement, or just being their person to vent to. My goal was for them to have a safe place with me.
The biggest struggle that all photographers face is imposter syndrome. It’s heard to find your own voice in this industry, along with setting your work apart from others. We find people to help inspire us but it tends to blend into more of us wanting to be them. It took me years of diving into who I wanted to be and who I wanted to attract. During all of these I have been able to develop my own process in helping other photographers get out of this mental state along with getting their booking rates up higher so they are no longer “ghosted”.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well for the most part. We don’t get out very much. My husband and I don’t drink but we do know how to find some great restaurants in the area. If a friend were visiting and wanting to see the best places in NC, I would have to take them out to Raleigh and into Asheville. The eclectic style and vibes they have are so much fun. Their coffee houses and fun places to eat and chill are by far my favorite in the entire state.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To be honest, I owe a lot of my success and confidence in my Husband, Corey Berrier. He has helped me with a huge part of my sales and with building up my confidence in being myself. For the longest time I struggled with understanding being myself was ok and with the help of him I went on a huge journey on finding out how awesome I truly am.
