Meet Noyek: Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Noyek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noyek, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Listen to your heart. Yes, I just said that. Yes, it is cliche. Also, yes, it is correct. When I used to hear this statement, it was always in the context of some frilly Disney movie where the characters were animated, and the stories scripted. They were following their dreams, falling into a rut, and right when they gave up hope; some miraculous thing would happen as a sign to keep going. Well, I haven’t quite had an experience like so. However, what I have experienced is excitement to create something that I would not only be proud of, but knew that it could directly impact others and help them feel that feeling as well. I have experienced the momentum of success and the flatline of failure, and I have walked away. However, it was that nagging thought of ‘what if I would have just kept going?’. ‘What if I start again, when I fall, get back up and keep going?’ That’s when I learned that failure was temporary, and when you get back up its refining.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a word artist, or an author, whichever way you fancy saying it! I have been writing now for a little over ten years, authoring two books. I tell tales, and I love it. I love it! I enjoy creating and sharing stories that make your heart race. I enjoy writing stories that make the reader stay up an hour more than they’d initially plan to. The stories that make them question the actions of the characters and talk to them the same you do when watching a really good movie, you know? It has been an evolution of self over the years. I have grown as a person, and it shows in my writing. The more I matured as an individual, the riskier the stories became.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh goodness, I am the worst with hosting – we’d probably end up at Honey Bubble three out of the five days. You can never go wrong with sprinkling a few museums in the mix. Oh, and somewhere good to eat because why not? We’d have to catch some live music at a hole in the wall, and by then, I am probably ready to see my friend out, put on some big fluffy socks, and recoup for the next three weeks!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Aye yo! I want to give a shoutout to my boo thang! Haha! I tease! Seriously, I have to shout out my Ace. My Partner. My Husband. When I gave up on believing in myself and my ability to be everything I had ever dreamed of being, he spoke life into me in a way that I could never explain. I am grateful and honored to have him as the love of my life.
