We had the good fortune of connecting with Author Kandie Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Author Kandie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As being a author, erotic poet and event planner my mind is always running. And for as long as I could remember it was a natural gift. I loved how words could turn into something special. Rather if it was a book, a poem it was like giving birth in art form. Even down to events it’s hard planning and trying to get everything and everyone on one accord, but then as it comes together you see the energy that fell into place it’s all worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m still going. I’m not where I’m destined to be at yet, but I’m where God needs me to be right now. Nothing is easy, every book every poem, every event/party is always a lesson behind. Rather it goes great, ok, or bad it helps me learn how to push harder. I’m always asking what can I do better? What can I do differently? One step at a time and a great team from my publisher Racquel Williams to my assistant, and my gang of sisters they definitely keep me motivated! One thing I have learned is to understand seasons of things and people. With every challenge I may have cried some, well cried a lot but I remember that I can do this! I self reflect on the task that may have been fumbled and pick up the pieces and keep going. Learn from my mistakes and grow from them.
Biggest thing I want anyone to know about Kandie Marie is that I’m a hell of a author and poet. I came from the bottom, and working my way to the top. The kandiey Shoppe LLC is a always looking for ambassadors and vixens. I started this company to help bring a change to event life with the events and parties we do. One thing about myself and my company we will always do what’s right, we believe in body positivity, and embracing your own sexy!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would def hit the Rich girl museum that has the dopest selfie areas. Then maybe to a nice lounge or hookah spot. Then we end it with the kandiey shoppe taste of heaven late night event and church on Sunday! Charlotte has a lot going for it and hidden gems especially the flower flea market where each flower is seventy five cent to a dollar a stem!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank above all God cause without him I’m nothing! My two babies Jayveion (7) and Ne’Oshun (4 months) who give me all my motivation!
