We had the good fortune of connecting with August Wolfe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi August, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I got married in October of 2020 and knew I wanted to save my own wedding flowers. I started playing around with epoxy and had done a few of my friend’s wedding flowers. However, had no intentions of making floral preservation a business. During the pandemic, I was caring for the sickest patients in Covid intensive care units. I was so mentally drained and physically worn out from the rollercoaster of emotions I was battling daily as an ICU nurse. I knew I needed to do something for myself that would “distract” me from the day-to-day reality I was having during my 12-hour nursing shifts. I began working on more floral pieces and decided to make an IG for my flower page. It all came full circle when I was chosen and entrusted to preserve flowers for a very well-known local woman who passed of Covid. It is my largest order to date and I was able to create so many pieces for all of her family members and loved ones. I am entrusted with the most special and memorable flowers and it brings me so much joy to be a light in some of the darkest days as well as creating a timeless, one-of-a-kind keepsake from your best day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This one-of-a-kind creation captures the beauty of nature in a timeless keepsake that you can cherish for years to come. As a skilled floral preservation artist, I meticulously arrange delicate flowers creating a stunning and unique piece that will leave you breathless. Whether you’re looking to preserve a special moment or have a memorial of a loved one, flower preservation is the perfect choice. It makes a wonderful gift for any occasion, including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or just because. Each piece is handcrafted with care, ensuring that no two are exactly alike. The beauty of the natural flowers is perfectly preserved in the clear resin, giving the piece a delicate, ethereal quality that will captivate anyone who sees it.

Starting my own business from scratch has been anything but easy. I have grown and learned SO much in the past 3 years. I am constantly challenging myself and pushing myself to learn, grow, and offer the best product I can. I have learned that issues will constantly arise however the only way to get through the challenges is to experience them and push through the obstacles. If running a small business was easy, everyone would do it. Choosing my “hard” has been the most rewarding and challenging thing I have ever done however I am so proud of August in Full Bloom and all the exciting adventures to come with my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is such a great spot to explore a little bit of everything! I love the endless options and different neighborhoods the city has to offer. We would start with coffee and brunch at The Chastain and then head over to Chastain Park for a walk. I would love to take them to Treat Your Feet in Buckhead to get the best massage! After massages, we would head back to get ready to grab drinks at The Garden Room. For dinner, we would head over to Umi sushi for the best sushi in the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Fellow resin artists in the industry deserve all the recognition as well! I am blown away by the loving and friendly community I have found while learning this craft. I truly have connected with so many others who have poured their heart and soul into their resin work as I have and it is so amazing to be able to troubleshoot, bounce ideas off of each other, and grow together. I am a firm believer in community over completion and I am forever grateful for the friendships I have made throughout my small business adventure,
