We had the good fortune of connecting with Attallah King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Attallah and Sybil, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success has been putting systems in place. Our systems at The Circuit Salon Company have positioned us to execute our prompt and customer centric service. The systems have been so good that people assume we are a franchise because of the level of professionalism and care we provide to our customers. It gets us excited every time someone asks us that because it shows we don’t take our clients for granted and our team is happy to work at The Circuit Salon Company. The systems incorporate education and procedures.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What makes the beauty industry special and sets us apart is our ability to physically touch and impact our clients positively. Physical touch can reduce stress and have an overall positive effect by promoting feelings of trust, security and self-esteem. At The Circuit Salon Company clients feel valued, seen and their time is respected.

The Circuit Salon Company is most proud of our 5 star stellar reviews. We have had a 5 star review rating now for 6 years in a row and we know its because of the training/certification program we have implemented for our team members. We are excited about the openings we have now for additional stylists to join the team. We understand education and flexibility is one of the most important tools for a stylist and that’s why we focus so much on education and offer flexible hours for stylists to work. Also, we offer supplemental benefits to our team members and that allows us to recruit and retain top talent in the industry.

The Circuit Salon Company was birthed out of solving the number one problem women had with hair salons and that is time spent in the salon. Our tag line at The Circuit Salon Company is, “Get In Get Out Get Beautiful”! A team of stylists work together to service a client instead of people lined up waiting for one stylist. Our clients know that they have the ability to chose a stylist but if they want to change that’s ok. The funny thing is, because our team cross educates,  our clients will receive excellent service, regardless of who services them.

The most important lesson we have learned along the way is to embrace change. We have learned to welcome change with enthusiasm and by doing this, the opportunities for improvement have grown professionally and personally.

We want the world to know our team is comprised of product specialists who are prompt, professional, highly educated, licensed stylists in an upscale environment while giving our clients beautiful hair. The Circuit Salon Company is growing and we are extremely excited about it. Focusing on all of this keeps us busy professionally.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Circuit Salon’s favorite place in the city is the Beltline downstairs from the salon (Studioplex). You can walk to all of the restaurants, bars, ice cream shops, Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the credit in the world goes to our parents, Edward and Wilma Vaughn. Our dad owned and operated one of the first black-owned bookstores in America (Vaughn’s Bookstore) in Detroit, Michigan. He also invested in real estate in addition to being in politics before retiring as a Michigan State Representative. That upbringing in entrepreneurship, his belief in us and hard work set the stage for us to be successful entrepreneurs.
