We had the good fortune of connecting with Atari McConnehead and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Atari, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I carefully analyze data and study the market. You have to be careful with risks, but usually the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Over the years taking risks have brought me alot of success, and I’ve also taken some L’s. Those L’s you take as learning lessons. Those education lessons aren’t free you got to pay for that and use it strategically next time. Overall I think the biggest risk one can take is not taking any at all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a detail shop and I’m also in the short term rental business also known as Airbnb. The McConnehead Car Wash detailing business was started by my family over 30 years ago in various locations known for our hospitality and southern charm. I’m just keeping the tradition going. I got into the Airbnb/short term rental business about 8 years ago so hospitality has always been my forte. My first business was a nightclub. I dove right in without any experience but I knew if I could simplify the process in my mind I could make it happen. I didn’t look at it as opening a nightclub I looked at it as needing a building with 4 walls, music, and lights. This simplification approach to business has taken me so far into other business ventures such as opening a restaurant, mall retail stores and more. There will always be challenges along the way but just remember if it was that easy everyone would do it. Stay the course and stay confident. I always stood by the motto “build it and they will come.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Check out some high school football. Valdosta Wildcats and Lowndes Vikings football should definitely keep you entertained in the city of Valdosta also known as Titletown. Try out some local shops and restaurants.
