We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlynn Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashlynn, why did you pursue a creative career?
For me, it was about being free to create and expand outside of myself. I’ve always been creative, so making it into my career just made sense. My clothing brand allows me to step outside of the box and tap into my creative side. It’s also nice to have the freedom and space to develop new pieces and share them with others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LBA Clothing is a brand geared towards celebrating women and their uniqueness. There are so many moving parts to who we are as women-and I wanted to create a brand that taps into that. Whether it is channeling your sexy side, getting comfortable with your chill side, or dressing up from time to time, there should be an outfit for that- and that is where LBA comes into play.

Right now, we’re currently offering swimwear, but we’re definitely not stopping there. We plan on getting into dresses, denim, winter wear, lingerie, and more. Swimwear is just a starter for us, so we’re really just warming up.
I am proud that I built my brand from the ground up and saved and researched to fund my business and create my products. It was not easy to start my brand as there were many challenges, but I never gave up. I pushed myself to get through the obstacles I faced; because I knew this is what I wanted to do. Through the creation of this brand, I have learned the power of going after what you want. I have also leaned heavily on seeing the bright side of things amid chaos. It is so easy to lose your head when things are not going right, but for me, it was like: “Okay, this did not go as planned, so how do we fix it so that we can get back on track?” I want people to know that my brand is so much more than me. There are so many things I would love to do with my brand, and I hope people stick around to witness that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow. There are so many places you could write about, to be honest. For me, I would be sure to take them to the High Museum. It is one of my favorite spots, not just because of the art but the people as well. They also have some fantastic events from time to time. All Fired Up is a pretty cool place as well if you’re looking to try something new. We would also have to go to Park 27, because who doesn’t love Korean BBQ? Jacks Pizza and Wings, Copper Cove, and Suite Lounge( their salmon tacos are amazing). Revolutions Donoughts and Mix’d up Burgers is also a must. You can probably tell I love to eat, so there are more food spots on my list than anything, lol. There are also a few places on my list that I have not gone to but would love to visit, so we would just be exploring and trying new places together, honestly.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to thank God. He has carried me every step of the way, and everything I have is because of him. I am also so grateful for my family and their guidance during this journey. And Of course, I would have to thank my friends and everyone involved in this process of helping me launch my brand. I also have to give a special shoutout to my friend Kirsten- she has honestly been so supportive and kept me motivated throughout this whole process. My circle has been so supportive and helpful, and they’ve encouraged me when I needed a little extra push. I am so appreciative and grateful for each one of them.
