We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I began Dough My Goodness! LLC, I was working in small bakeries. Giving them a lot of my time & talent but I wasn’t able to express my passion for art like I wanted to because it wasn’t my place of business. After working for so many bakeries & watching their business grow from my help I decided that I would go into business for myself. Create what I feel, making amazing tasting treats & cake! I’ve grown so much more working for myself than I have in all the years working in bakeries.

What should our readers know about your business?
Dough My Goodness! LLC is an Atlanta Based bakery that makes custom cakes & treats. I am so proud to actually be able to say that DMG has been around going on 3 years. It has not been a easy journey. There are a lot of struggles when it comes to business. When DMG first started I had no direction, no real knowledge of business. I think that has always been the biggest challenge. My work speaks for itself but in this day and age it’s more than just about your work. You have to be able to market on social media, you have to stay relevant. It’s an everyday challenge but DMG has grown & continues to do so everyday. DMG is a Women Owned – Black Owned business that not only makes amazing cakes & treats but also we create a great experience, a fun time & overall we give you masterpieces that no one has seen before!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am more of a hermit crab. Not to much of a city person. Ironic, yes I know living in Atlanta. But it’s a haven for black business owners! But if I had to choose a place it’ll probably be the Roswell Mill Waterfall. It’s such a beautiful area.
So much nature, so many things to see & do! & they have a Bamako forest! Hands down best weekend ever!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first Shoutout my Older sister, Adoria. She has been there since the start of DMG. Every taste test, every new design she has been there for. She’s always there when I need extra help with anything. DMG wouldn’t be what it is without her! Secondly I would like to shoutout Bluntana. He is an Atlanta Based Musical Artist. He has really been the help to push DMG to its next steps. He is always routing for the best & always helps with our business moves!
