We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and founder of Differentiating Minds Tutoring Service Inc., Differentiating Minds Consulting LLC and nonprofit Educate the City, Inc. I am also an educator in the amazing city of Atlanta, GA. Differentiating Minds is a private tutoring service that provides one-on-one and small group tutoring for youth in Atlanta and now nationwide. In Atlanta, we primarily service children on the Southside by providing a differentiated approach which helps improve their confidence, motivation and academic performance. We specialize in reading, english/language arts, math, science, social studies and test preparation for grades Pre-K through 8th.
Since the inception of Differentiating Minds Tutoring, I have engaged community partnerships and gained sponsors that have helped me grow my business and increase the number of students I’m able to serve. I am currently partnering with the East Point Recreation Center to teach a 10-week GA Milestones test prep class and academic recovery classes (Academic Solutions) twice a year.
I have a true passion for education and working with today’s youth. In addition to my tutoring service, I also operate a non-profit organization, Educate the City, Inc., which provides free educational services and community outreach programs and events. Its mission is to “educate and cultivate scholars in the areas of Academics & Arts, Health & Wellness, Fashion & Beauty and Entrepreneurship & Finance.”
My most recent business venture is Differentiating Minds Consulting Service LLC, a tutor coaching platform that helps tutors develop, grow and scale their businesses. After noticing the consistent success of my tutoring service, I knew I wanted to help other teachers and tutors thrive; I wanted to share the “sauce” to my success.
My businesses are unique because they are fueled by my passion and driven by my creativity, innovation, and ability to build a rapport with all of my students and their families. I also focus on their social and emotional development by using unconventional approaches to education such as affirmations, mantras, and mindful practices. My delivery makes me relatable and encourages my students to be more open to learning.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a native Atlantan, I am well aware of the rich history my intoxicating city exudes. As a result, I would start our adventure with a visit to historic sites and end with a trendsetting delicious meal at one of Atlanta’s popular eateries.
We would visit the MLK Center because you can’t come to Atlanta without visiting the King Center. Next on the list would be Ponce City Market, a location that once housed the old Sears, Roebuck, and Company building dating back to the 1920’s. Ponce City Market now houses a variety of quaint shops and a magnificent view of Atlanta’s skyline.
Trendsetting restaurants like Slutty Vegan, Publico Kitchen, Toast on Lenox and Breakfast at Barney’s all have great vibes and the best food/brunch in the city! Atlanta is an epic city and one visit would only be the tip of the iceberg in creating memories for a follow up visit which I am certain would happen.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends who encourage me to be the best version of myself, my son who keeps me inspired and makes me feel forever young, and the scholars and parents of the Differentiating Minds and Educate the City family.
