We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Accountability is the most important factor behind my success. In addition to traditional forms of support, such as people expressing their pride in me, sharing my content, or referring others to my services, having a support system that holds me accountable has made the biggest difference. In situations where I might be expected to rest on my laurels, the accountability of those closest to me will ask, “What’s next and how can we help you get there?”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Transformative Counseling, LLC is a millennial mental health therapy practice aimed at the overall betterment and holistic healing of professional men and women. What sets this practice apart from others is the emphasis on breaking generational curses across socioeconomic lines in black and brown communities. As an independent practitioner, I have close to a decade of experience de-stigmatizing mental health, making healthcare accessible, and implementing resources in various communities in Memphis, TN. What makes me the most excited is providing an opportunity for others to grow, heal, and live more fulfilling lives! I was able to get to where I am professionally due to years of mentorship, watching how other people ran their businesses, and learning what would be best for ME.
This journey was far from easy, there were times I wanted to give up. I overcame these feelings and other obstacles by envisioning my end-game and detailing the best way I could get there!
If there is one thing I want the world to know about the Transformative brand, its growth is most possible with intention. I am a very intentional person, therefore I am intentional in my interactions, both personally and professionally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Memphis is so rich with soul and culture, that it’s hard to choose! As Issa Rae once said, “I’m rooting for everybody black!” so we’d have to hit up some of my favorite black-owned restaurants, maybe Biscuits and Jam and Sage for brunch, Brain Food or Curry and Jerk for lunch, and Crumpy’s (Memphis wings or none!) for dinner! Depending on the time of year, a Grizzlies’ game, wine by the river, or bar hopping in Overton Square would also be a vibe!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shout-out to my beautiful tribe of friends, my parents, and my best friend/branding strategist Charity Curry. Neither I nor my brand would be where it is without you all!
