We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Eskinde and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I don’t think about risks I just do it, I have always been a risk taker within myself and for my business. Before I started hosting events I invested $6k into my hairline and only made $1k back, I didn’t have a plan b or c and I still needed to pay for rent, lights etc so I started my own pop up shop to be able to sell my hair in person because social media wasn’t giving me any sales so I knew those pop up shops would benefit my business and little did I know when I started hosting events in August 2020 those events would take my business very far and turn into something life changing. So if I never took risk I’ll always be comfortable and stagnant, I wouldn’t know of the opportunities available if I was scared of risks so taking risks has played a major part in my life, Everyday we take risks anyway by getting in our car, eating food, going to work etc so why not take risks for your business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Ashley Eskinde, The CEO of GlamHairBoutique and Glam Boutique Small Business Expo! I started my hairline back in 2017, & my events I started August 2020 because I invested $6k into my hairline and only made $1k back so I knew I needed pop up shops to help me sell out because I was just starting on social media to promote my brands and it just wasn’t working for me, Over the years I have always said I wanted to host pop up shops so I put my first date out in August 9, 2020 and it was a success ! I sold out fast plus my turn out was awesome and started booking my next pop up shop dates fast, I found myself hosting weekly with 20 vendors on Edgewood to booking 100 vendors monthly in West Midtown area to booking the Georgia International Convention Center on Juneteenth! My brand has had some rough patches and there were some events I had to postpone due to covid, Sometimes I was discourage because I couldn’t understand why my events went from booking consistently over a year to going downhill due to the pandemic but all I did know was to keep going no matter what situation I was in. I did just that and by me not giving up on myself and my business I am now doing business with Piedmont Park, StateFarm Arena, Braves Stadiums and convention centers in different states to host my events in 2022 which means I can now provide even more opportunities for my vendors ! This journey has taught me many things but most importantly to never give up on yourself, there will be people that will try to stop you or discourage you and there will be things that just doesn’t work out no matter how much time and energy you put into it but that doesn’t mean you should beat yourself up about it and stop your dreams, Keep going and let your pain and struggle be your motivation!!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots in the Atlanta are Breakfast at Barney’s, JeJu, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Toast on Lenox, some hookah lounges, Restaurant 10, I love six flags, mic karaoke, it’s so many places in Atlanta it’s hard to name them all! I mostly love to eat, shop, go on some adventures, sip margaritas with my girls and make vision boards. Shoutout to Atlanta for so many dope places to go and relax and catch vibes!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my supporters, I have so many people that has been supporting my journey from the beginning of my career and I cannot run my business by myself or promote by myself it literally takes a village, I thank my village for continuing to believe in me & investing in me so I can bless others with more opportunities. I see so many people from different states that shares my flyers for my events, getting the word out here about my events and I really appreciate everyone who support my dream and on this journey with me. My supporters motivate me to keep going hard for them so thank you again, I love you all!
